樹齢300年以上のクスノキが聳える

今治駅から徒歩10分ほど。国道317号に面して大鳥居が立つ。
712年創建。明治の神仏分離により南光坊と分離。祭神は大山積大神。拝殿は1575年築で木造檜皮葺(県指定有形文化財)。本殿は木造銅板葺き。境内社・奈良原神社の近くには樹齢300年以上のクスノキ(市指定天然記念物)が聳えている。

かなり大きな神社

県道に面した駅から近い場所にあります。近隣には南光坊などの神社仏閣が並びます。愛媛県が設置した説明の看板に名前がかいてあります。建造物としても重要性の高さが伺えます。別宮とありますが大きな神社です。

大三島の大山祇神社の別宮です

隣接する四国８８か所霊場の南光坊よりも地元の人にとっては信仰を集めているのか？，南光坊は我々お遍路の小団体＋別のお遍路さん方、数名が参拝していただけですが、こちらは明らかに地元の人と思しき人達が一人づつ、次々と参詣されている。手を合わせているだけだが、地元には崇敬を集めていることが手に取るように判る。ここは別宮とは云え創建後１３２０年弱も経過している古社。地元では別名、「三島地御前」とも呼ばれている。多分、この規模からは最盛時には大三島の本社に匹敵するほどの繁栄振りであったのでは、と感じた。巨大な石の大鳥居を有する立派な神社でした。

四国八十八ヶ所霊場第55番札所の南光坊に隣接する、大きな神社

2020年12月11日、この日は南光坊に参拝した。
そこから徒歩で、隣接する大山祇神社（おおやまづみじんじゃ）に向かう。

南光坊はもともと大三島に鎮座する大山祇神社の別宮だった。
明治の神仏分離令で分離、独立した。
由緒書き。
1575年に村上水軍が再建したという拝殿。
本殿。

清高稲荷神社。
荒神社（こうじんじゃ）
阿奈婆神社〔あなばじんじゃ）

ご神木のクスノキは樹齢300年以上。
奈良原神社（ならはらじんじゃ）
参拝を終え、先に進んだ。

文武天皇の時代に建てられた神社と言われてます

四国八十八箇所南光坊の隣にある大きな神社で、大三島にある大山祇神社の別宮として文武天皇の勅命にて創建されたと伝えられてます。歴代今治藩主の手厚い保護を受けて歴史ある建造物が維持されており、新四国曼荼羅霊場にもなっています。

大きなくすの木

国道３１７号沿いに鳥居が見えます。参道を進むと立派な拝殿がありました。大三島の大山祇神社の別宮です。大きなくすの木や、石灯籠、絵馬など見ごたえがあります。

大三島の大山祇神社の別宮

しまなみ海道サイクリングの途中で立ち寄り。

境内には別宮の他、お稲荷さんや阿奈婆神社などもある。
今治らしく、お稲荷さんの鳥居の奉納はタオル会社が多かった。
阿奈婆神社は下の病に霊験あらたかとのことで
お参りの人が多いそう。
社殿の横にも男性自身を模したような石柱もあり注連縄で囲われている。
ご神木のクスノキは大きく枝を広げ、木陰は涼やか。
平日だったせいか境内はとても静かで猫がのんびり昼寝をしていた。

隣にはお遍路スポットの南光坊もあるので一緒に回るのもいい。
今治駅から歩いて8〜10分くらい。
