This bridge is very well built and is not an eye sore to the surrounding environment. We found the bridges in this area to be all beautifully built. The trip over was very smooth too. Toll roads are very expensive in Japan, so be aware.

The bridge is part of the SHimanami Kaido, a route with seven big bridges, all with walking and cycle paths. They are VERY well- planned and executed. This is the single most impressive cycleway I have seen in the world.

The bridge marks the beginning or end of the Shimanami Kaido depending which direction you are coming or going to. The route is cycling friendly, so look out for the cycling path up the bridge and the scene along the way is breath taking.
