Located about 16km away from the crowd in Lake Tazawa along Route 341, Tamagawa Dam (and its accompanying Karyu Park) is a good place to have a picnic in autumn or as a pit-stop for some nice photos along this scenic route. Air is fresh and the autumn colors around the Dam are beautiful (late Oct 2017). Washroom facilities are available here. There is a (roughly) hourly bus service plying between Tazawako Stn - Tazawako lake - Shin Tamagawa Onsen in autumn and there's a bus-stop at the Dam. About 1.5 km before reaching the Dam if one is travelling from Tazawako towards Shin-Tamagawa Onsen, the scenery is also quite beautiful. Some of the photos submitted by other contributors in this Attraction (the ones with river and colorful patches of weeds) are photos of this inlet source river to Lake Shusen, and not of Tamagawa Dam itself.
