A modest residence of a low ranking samurai family built in 1860.

This is a rare surviving modest residence of a low ranking samurai family built in 1860. I understand they were a family of scholars. Worth comparing with the grand mansion of a higher ranking samurai such as the Aoyagi Family residence. Admission is free.

A completely open to public area which demonstrates the traditional samurai housing. It gives you an opportunity to see how they lived, how the the houses were constructed and there are many of these houses in the area so you etc a feel for the difference as well.
