After you visit the Namahage museum then you can go to see the Godzilla rock in the Oga peninsular. It catches the best sunset at the rock area!

Driving along the coast from Akita to Aomori prefecture. It's not a bad idea to stop here for stretching the legs and see this unique shape of the rock. Honestly the rock itself doesn't look like a Godzilla, it depends on the angle of the camera when you take it. Anyway it was fun to hop around the rocks.

This was a very nice area on the peninsula. At an angle the rock looks like Godzilla, however do not expect a large creature. The area around it is extremely beautiful as it is on the coast with mountains behind it.

A very popular spot with locals and visitors. Look for the sign pointing to the Godzilla Rock by the roadside. You can turn in and go down a slope to the parking. From there, it is a very rocky walk to the rock. Make sure you have shoes with proper grip to get there. The rock resembles the Godzilla monster and during sunset, if the sun is in the right position, it will set by the mouth of the Godzilla rock. Great place to taking photos of the sunset.

Only in Japan can you visit a rock with a natural formation that perfectly resembles Godzilla, right? Popular with locals as well, visiting Godzilla Rock is a fun and memorable stop when driving around the beautiful peninsula.

Located along the coast line (road 59) about 15 minutes from downtown Funakawa /Oga Funakawa train station. Look for a sign for Godzilla Rock where you can park you car and walk out to rock formation. It is very close to parking area, but quite bumpy along the rocks so good shoes help. Particularly beautiful at sunset, the sun shines through and indeed it does look like Godzilla, although it may be smaller than expected.

Be sure to take lot of photos!

Rocks named "Godzilla Rock" can be found all over Japan. There is also a Godzilla Rock at the southernmost tip of the west coast of the Oga Peninsula.
Godzilla Rock is located in a wide rocky area called Shiosezaki, but depending on the angle it doesn't look like Godzilla - it's just a rock. I got closer, wondering if that was it, but it still didn't look like Godzilla. By changing the angle, I was finally able to see Godzilla with its mouth open.
