It's about a 5-minute walk from Okegawa Station. It's located behind the Shimamura Building along the old Nakasendo (Prefectural Route 164). Built in 1836, it is a wooden building with a tiled roof. It is a nationally registered tangible cultural property. The Shimamura family was the head family of the grain wholesaler Kijimaya. The construction of this storehouse provided work for people suffering during the Tenpo Famine (1833-1839), and it was called the "Osukegura" (storehouse for the relief of helpers). The walls are painted black plaster, but they are currently covered with corrugated iron and cannot be seen. There are also various items placed around it, so it doesn't have the atmosphere of a historic building.
