Had a wonderful day in Suginohara. The highlight is definitely the 8.5 km long run which was so much fun. We were staying in Akakura and did a day trip here, the shuttle costs 500 yen and took about 20 minutes. Some excellent groomed runs...More

We enjoyed our couple of trips to Sugi. The shuttle from Myoko is easy (500 yen each way), but your accom or tourist Info will give you a discount coupon on the lift tickets which equal the shuttle price fare, so all is good. Huge...More

Suginohara is an enjoyable ski field. It has some long runs and reasonably expansive areas mid mountain. There are a couple of interesting, sightly steeper areas close to the top but no real challenging areas other than a couple of long bump runs. We scored...More

The long runs, modern Gondola and hooded quad chairs combined with almost empty slopes and the amazingly long 8km run from top to bottom make this a great place for intermediate skiers. This would be the first place we would ski again in the Myoko...More

The 8.5km run from top to bottom is a thigh burner! Starts as an intermediate into a beginner run for most of it. Good intermediate on-piste terrain up top; didn’t try much of the off-piste as it hadn’t snowed recently and was pretty icy. Has...More

Conditions make or break a resort and when we visited it was after almost half a meter of fresh powder. Sensational. The forest beside the sugi train park was an awesome tried area that was just spectacular. Not that steep but we were able to...More

While staying in Akakura Onsen we spent about half our days taking the bus to Suginohara to ski. It seems very popular and the shuttle buses were always full on the way there and back (¥500...expect to stand unless u line up early). When u...More

Fantastic mountain...our group ranging from intermediate to highly experienced, there is a challenge here for everyone. Amazing food options also. Easy bus ride, preferably from your hotel rather than the community bus that gets so packed it’s standing room only & a 20min bus ride....More

Not a large Ski area but is serviced by a Gondala and hooded chairlift that puts Hakuba resorts to shame, good Skiing for intermediate skiers and for experts skiers in the trees if the snow is fresh. A nice break from the hustle & bustle...More

Excellent field, with varied terrain and runs, lots of options for learners and powder fiends, as well as a large park filled with kickers and rails. Recommend exploring the side country, lots of fresh powder in the trees that get left alone by most visitors.

I would definitely do more nights in the snow. Tokyo is great but we found 5 nights was more than enough.
