There are two ski areas at Akakura, each were great and more for intermediate or beginner as not many black runs. Was heaps of fun and recommend. Was my favourite place to ski.

If you're mainly skiing on the groomers then this part of Myoko seems ideal for beginners but doesn't really have much for intermediate skiers.

This is a great small ski resorts just three hours away by train from Tokyo. It is a small traditional ski resort town, so do not expect many restaurants, bars or party. The slopes are nice, but not very difficult. During the weekdays you will...More

Akakura Onsen is a smaller field, made up of mostly green runs. The perfect spot for learners or those wanting to cruise for the day. There's a few side country runs amongst the trees, and more if you're willing to hike a little, but the...More

Great snow here but the Akakura Onsen area is a little limited but if you have a big 4 pass it opens up spectacularly

I have skied here twice and enjoyed both visits. The terrain is varied and there are good slopes for all levels of skiers and if conditions permit, good off piste for experts. The resort is friendly and well staffed and there is an excellent ski...More
