This line operates in beautiful countryside and has a modern station. We used it to go back and forth between Iiyama and Togari Onsen and onwards to Tokamachi on the special train complete with treats and surprises for the Kimono Festival. A lovely line and...More

Easy to find your way around. Helpful staff. There's a tourist information centre at the ground floor, staff so helpful. There's a shop there that sells groceries items etc. there's a coin locker. Also a JR ticket office. The whole station is so clean.

We took the train from Nagano to Tokamachi, and enjoyed the chance to walk the snowy villages passing by. A lovely change from the efficiency of the shinkansen. The train is small, but wasn't crowded at all when we travelled (weekday, winter). Seats aren't reserved,...More

Local line `Iiyama` to take you back in time and slow down into the amazing countryside following the Chikuma River from Nagano to Tokamachi, take a day or two and stop as many places along the way as you like.
