Nice little castle in a nice garden setting. The castle itself is modern but still a great attraction. Surrounded by a moat, which was frozen over on my visit. It is very small and is good place to spend one hour of relaxation.

The castle itself is small - apparently a lot of it was demolished in the 1870s, but it’s still interesting and worth a visit if you’re in the area. The surrounding park and lake are nice too but you can’t help feeling this is a...More

The reconstructed tenshukaku (donjon) has an imitation wood paintjob and strips of copper plating for roof tiles and so its appearance is refreshingly different. This style is consistent throughout all of the structures at the...More

This is a nice place to relax a bit and walk around the garden, the colours are great as well if you visit it during November! The castle itself is rather small, but it should keep you busy for about an hour.

This little castle (Tenshukaku to be specific) is inside Takashima park. It's quite small comparing to other Tenshukaku, but we could find a number of boards telling the Suwa history inside, that's very informative. Sadly, cherry blossom there was not bloomed yet, otherwise the scene...More

It's not very large, and you have to pay to go inside. Nevertheless, there's a brief history in English inside the park and at the entrance to the stairs that lead up to the Castle. It was destroyed but later rebuilt by the people of...More

The day I went there, I saw two other people. It is prominently set 5 minutes from Lake Suwa with a partial moat and a majestic perch on an ancient stone foundation. I love castles, and this one is one of my favorites in Japan....More
