A very busy station trying to catch a train to Kyoto. The stairways depicting the arts & craft that the area is known for was interesting.

Stopped here to buy the free pass for a trip to Hakone. Staff were helpful and spoke reasonable English. Tried to pay with credit card but, as we often found, they didn't understand chip and pin so we had to pay cash.
They were very keen to give us information on Hakone and the circular route but we almost came a cropper at the first hurdle as the platforms at the station are staggered. We were following signs to the platform (11 I think) for Hakone Yumoto, saw a train that seemed to be right and jumped on. After a while one set of doors closed and then we didn't set off on time. On checking I discovered we were on the wrong platform and we jumped off before we left on a mystery tour so no harm done. But do be wary.

This Tourist Information counter is in the train station building, across the hall from the train information counter. The staff were extremely friendly, spoke English well and gave us all the information we required.

The tourist staff here were extremely helpful and trying very hard to assist us. We were given several brochures and maps in English which were very helpful. The staff spoke English well enough for us to understand exactly what we needed!

I took my mother for her first overseas trip to Odawara. It’s a must stop from Tokyo if you want a view on Mount Fuji. This info centre is conveniently located in the train station as you arrive. However nothing can make it for the arrogant attitude of their young staff members: blasé, pretentious (they know the area, you don’t and they’ll make sure you feel that way)!
I didn’t come to visit Japan to be made to feel small when I ask questions about a complex loop in the mountains.... I gave them that feedback and I think the place would do so much better if the staff tried to be helpful and lost the unhelpful attitude.

Kept waiting by staff ignoring me obviously wanting to change money, then told my crisp usd100 bills weren't acceptable due to small stamp marks on them. Went to Post Office the following day, got better rate and no problems accepting the bills.

Poor queue system.
Wrong information given. Wasted time walking to wrong stops which are not included in free pass.
Rude Staff ( Egypt Muslim Male), spoke in angry and irritated manner, was self defensive and gave wrong information to tourist. Unfriendly and super unhelpful. Do not approach this specific staff, reflects how unprofessional the tourist office is.

Place to ask where to go in Odawara, especially if you want to go to Hakone. You can go by train or bus. They have different unique features. ask them for detail.

This InformationCenter is easy to find in the Odawara Station and the staff were very helpful in providing information on Hakone and the Hakone Free Pass is available there too.
