This museum displays materials and specimens from a wide range of eras, from the birth of the earth to the present day. The museum has a large space that is fully utilized for exhibits, so it can be widely enjoyed by both children and adults.
There are several large and small exhibition halls, with the first floor dedicated to the birth of the earth and the evolution of life, and the third floor dedicated to the nature of Kanagawa Prefecture and the current global environment. In particular, it is a wonderful experience to be able to see up close a wide variety of rocks that were essential to the birth of the earth, as well as ores and gems that have been created by the pulsations of the earth over the years. Some of the exhibits are so close that you can reach them and feel their power firsthand. If you take your time, it will take you more than two hours, but I think it's worth it.
Some, but not all, of the explanations are in English. On the other hand, there are also explanations in Braille, and QR codes that can be held up with an app to get audio explanations, so even people with disabilities can enjoy the museum. I think this is a facility where anyone can feel and learn about the birth and transition of the earth.

Since I don’t have a point of comparison, I could be exaggerating my rating since this is my first time to be in such a breathtaking conservatory museum of Natural History. Just at the lobby, stands a huge grizzly brown stuffed bear that is almost twice my size when standing from a platform. The museum also displays different types of rock and crystal formations that dates back to millions of years including a terrestrial body; an iron meteorite. You will also find different stuffed animals that hopefully doesn’t come alive at sundown, as well as skeletons of terrifying Paleolithic giants to a beautiful transformation of a butterfly from a cocoon. The museum also promotes “Human in Nature” where after being captivated by the displays, one could come to a realization of how important Human is, in the Museum’s effort and drive to make everyone aware now is the time to conserve and preserve Mother Nature. The museum is open from 9:00AM to 4:00PM and the entrance fee for ages 20 to 64 is only JPY510. They offer group discounts and they also give special rates to teenagers ages 15 to 19, Student, High School Students and visitors 65 years or older.

Went to this place just before GW 2015. As others are saying, it turned out to be a much better museum than expected. It costs only 520 yen for adults and free for kids (parking is also free). My son loved the dinosaurs section but for me, the collection of insects was particularly impressive. Good way to spend a few hours when visiting Odawara area.

Very impressive considering it's only 410yen for the admission fee after discounted (we used Hakone Free Pass), or original fee of 520yen. About 10 minutes walk from Iriuda Station, we spent about 2.5 hours there, the English description of each exhibition can be accessible online by entering the guide number.

After enjoyed highly academic display about earth, extinct animals, and fossils, I found very photogenic curry and rice (500 JPY) parfait (500 JPY) in a small cafeteria behind the museum shop located in the entrance hall.
In a rice island surrounded by sea of magma, a dinosaur mother sitting on her egg...Geological layer of icecream and cookies...They looked too cute to eat :)

We went there as it was on our way and we had time. It was a big disappointment as most of the displays were replicas.

The lockers were closed due to corona.

Skip at all costs.

We went with our young kids and really enjoyed a couple of hours here. Adults are 510 yen and kids under 4 are free. There are a couple of food options but also places to have a picnic if you bring your own. Parking is free.

This museum has some interesting displays and replicas. I personally enjoyed the rocks and Chrystal section as well as the butterfly and beetle section some really cool bugs . It’s worth the time to go for an hour or so , the price is decent too.

For an entry fee of ¥520, this museum is worth a visit. It has many displays such as dinosaur bones, taxidermy wildlife, insect collection, minerals, rocks, etc. There's also a restaurant/cafe for visitors. Overall, it was a great place to spend our afternoon at.
