Day spa for a wedding anniversary! Wonderful
May 2021 • Couples
My wife and I visited this place for our wedding anniversary, we took the day spa plan, so that we were able to enjoy a nice day in the outdoor pool (a little windy and chilly for me, but vey nice hehehe).

We had also enjoyed the onsen and a great late lunch at the restaurant at the 4th floor.

It is recommended for people who likes the onsen and would like to spend a nice time in an indoor or outdoor pool.

It is important to mention that as it happens in many places in Japan, the pool area does not have a bar or restaurant service as is in many other countries overseas, but it is still nice to spend some relaxing time.

The sunset picture was taken from the bridge that connects Enoshima and the mainland.

Tip: How to watch sunset cheaply from the baths
Mar 2020
This is a fantastic place. A little expensive but well worth it if you've never visited an onsen. They have a reduced evening rate from 6pm, HOWEVER if you book on their Japanese site you can get the same rate from 5pm!!! This means that you get to watch sunset from a hot bath. They have many different baths at different temperatures, some with jet-force spa jets, some inside, some outside, and they have a unisex sauna that's around 60 degrees, and a serious one in the male area at 90 degrees. It's a little complicated getting from floor to floor as the lifts tend to be in the changing rooms, and the locker keys are a bit fiddly, but this pales to insignificance compared with the 3 or 4 hours you could spend here enjoying this unique experiance.

Thank you so much for taking the time to write your review. We very much appreciate that you enjoyed your time at the spa and we hope many more people will come and warm up in the pools and natural hot spring. Most of the unfortunate reviews are from people who did not know about the no-tattoo or no children under six years old rules. We do our best to make sure people know in advance but sometimes the message does not make it through. We are always very disappointed when this happens as we don't want anyone to make the trip without being aware. Once again, thank you so much for your comment and we look forward to the opportunity to serve you again.

Such an amazing place to relax and enjoy!
Jul 2019 • Family
I am from New Zealand and had the most amazing time and felt so relaxed. As a foreigner, this was an extraordinary experience and it was nice that the masseuse was able to speak English so I was able to understand what she was about to do and answer her questions. Also being able to experience the pools both indoor and outdoor was again very relaxing. The food and the service at the restaurant paired with the ocean views made dining a special experience. I wish I could go back to Enoshima Island Spa!

Great getaway spot from the city
Jul 2019 • Family
I recently visited this spa with my mom and my friend to have a girl's spa day together. Our itinerary consisted of a massage, lunch in the restaurant and hot pools. For me, the massage was my favourite part of the day. I got the classic massage which consisted of a whole-body oil massage using some hot and cold rocks. The staff were very very kind and professional. The masseuse was very conscious of my problem areas and very attentive all the way along. I had a great lunch in the restaurant as well, I got the lunch set which was the combination of the salad bar and cooked fish of your choice. The view from the restaurant was awesome and the food was delicious as well. They also have great desserts which I definitely recommend. After a full stomach, we went to the pools and enjoyed the seaside view. Overall, my day was a very relaxing and a great day to have a break from my busy life living in the city of Tokyo.

No tattoos allowed
Apr 2019 • Solo
Why would they offer a website completely in English, offer mixed bath with swim suits and make their whole appearance as if they're totally welcoming tourism - and then they don't allow tattoos? Very old-fashioned.

Thank you very much for taking the time to write your review. Since this is a private club, the tattoo policy may seem overly stringent to some guests, but we do try to make sure the policy on tattoos as well as children under six and under is clearly evident on our website, etc. We appreciate that most guests and members understand the cultural background to aversion to tattoos in Japan.

Very nice visit to a Japanese spa
Mar 2019 • Couples
My wife and I visited this spa in March and it was definitely a very nice experience. I have never been to a spa before and she has been to one, but I can say that it definitely nice. We went on a Friday, so there were people, but we did not feel like it was too crowded or anything. There are several pools both inside and outside with many different temperatures and flows. Most of the pools serve as very nice viewpoints from Enoshima Island also, so there is definitely a feeling of relaxation and release.

In addition, there is also two nude onsen, one for female and one for male. The Onsens have multiple pools that help to either relax, relieve muscle tensions, etc. The facility provide steps on what your goal is on the wall. I think it’s definitely an experience if you haven’t tried it. But it can be difficult to get comfortable with the idea.

The food we ate was tasty albeit the portions are smaller than US portions. We did sit by the window when it was dark, but I think it would have been lovely during the day.

If you are looking for relaxing visit Japan or need a few hours to recharge from adventuring, I would recommend you check this place out for a few hours or the whole day. I believe the price is the same.

Much thanks from the Enospa team.

Relaxing End to Vacation
Mar 2019 • Solo
On my last full day in Japan, I ventured to Kamakura to see the Big Buddha, hike some trails, and visit the Enospa. The walk from the train station to the island did not bother me as some have reviewed. The views were beautiful and the temperature was perfect, so I found it relaxing. When I arrived at the spa, everyone was very sweet and attentive- they spoke great English in my opinion. The hot springs I soaked in before my massage were soothing and just what I needed after a very active vacation. At the Beng Teng spa, you’re given an herbal tea and asked to select your preferred massage oil. My massage therapist Akane was absolutely amazing. Not only was she very professional and sweet, but she has gifted hands! My experience at the Enospa/Beng Teng Spa was the perfect ending to my trip. Definitely recommend.

Thank you very much for taking the time to write your review and we are so happy that you made the trip out to Enoshima. We find that in Winter this spa warms you up while in Summer we open all the windows to the breeze off the ocean so people can really feel cool. Please do come enjoy the spa again sometime.

Great spa for foreign travelers and residents
Oct 2018 • Family
Enoshima Island Spa is a great place to experience a Japanese onsen. Two of the four levels are devoted to common spa pool areas where guests wear bathing suites. For me and my 17 year old daughter this was nice because we could share the experience together. The common areas have a restaurant, bar, sauna and areas to hang out. There is a wide variety of pools, both in size and water temperature, some located inside and others outside where you have great views of the ocean and coastline. We went at night but I’m told on a clear day you can see Mt Fuji from the infinity pool. There are some unique pools that I won’t spoil the fun of discovering by telling you (hint one plays music under water!). We caught the light show in one of the pools and it was really well done. The sauna is the perfect temperature and there is this amazingly great aroma inside. The 3rd floor is the traditional bathing area and is segregated (same sex). There are helpful signs to tell you how to use the shower and common soaking pool. The only surprising thing was the female attendant who was cleaning in the men’s locker area. I wasn’t prepared for this but luckily I was wearing this little towel. But I figured it was all part of the experience.
The staff are friendly and speak enough English to accommodate the necessary tasks of getting signed in, getting your towel and robe, a locker and checking out/paying and give directions. There are helpful signs in English throughout the spa and in key areas – like at the exit to the bath area so you don’t blunder into the wrong areas naked. But there are not too many English signs so you still get the fun of figuring things out for yourself; like when I am done should I leave my towel and robe in the locker room or bring them back to the front desk? (you bring them to the front desk).
The English language web page is well organized and the FAQ were spot on and answered exactly what I wanted to know. I’ve not been to any other spas so I don’t have a comparison. But I felt the general admission prices is very reasonable for what you get which is access to all the pools and bath area. Spa treatments and massages are extra.
Enoshima Island spa, like most Japanese onsens is a no-tattoos allowed spa with no exceptions.

Thank you very much for taking the time to review Enoshima Island Spa. We are so happy to hear that the English website was helpful. The tattoo and child information is very important since we don't want anyone making the trip to Enoshima Island Spa and not being able to enter the spa. Descriptions of the various bathing and pool options was very helpful and we certainly look forward to welcoming you again some time soon.

Expensive, everything closes early, only good for a nice swimming pool.
Sep 2018 • Solo
Location
15minute walk over to the island from nearest train station or bus stops right outside.

Cost
I went for the evening package, around 2000y for 6pm-10pm but this is still high for super spas in kanagawa area.

Checkin
2 step process, go to one counter tell her which package you want she will give you a key for a shoe locker. Then after shoes another desk gives you spaclothes and a key for clothes locker inside and the NFC bracelet for charging things to.

Locker room
The spa clothes they give you are just a basic yukata type robe, I am large size and it didn't fit me, especially in the chest and hip area. Personally I prefer the pyajama trousers you get in a variety of sizes at other spas so my legs don't rub together after swelling a little in a hot bath.

Swimming Pool area
Bit confusing to get too, walking through a tunnel then a shower then in another elevator but once inside there is a wonderful choice of pools, indoor and outside. The big pool has an amazing water feature show at 8pm. A little cave area downstairs with projected lights. Outside area has swinging chairs and the pool was so big you could swim laps under the moonlight. Temperature was just right too. The dark cave pools indoors were freezing however. Not that this stopped a couple getting frisky that I accidently swam around the corner to! All the lights and nightviews and swimming together is very romantic though so can't blame them.

Food
The main restaurant only sold high class fine dining speciality dishes based on local fishfood, with skyhigh prices, it was so pretentious looking I wasn't interested as just wanted a quick meal to not waste time. By the pools there are little cafes, menu is very limited, one only sells smoothies/ice cream and was closed by 7pm, the other took last order at 730 and sold curry, hotdog, burger or ramen. I had the black croquette curry which was not bad. To my surprise there was only one vending machine in the entire building which you have to use special tokens for which the service desk was closed for...everything was double it's usual price to. The place stays open till 10pm but after 7pm everything starts to shut which seems unfair on night visitors who get thirsty after a bath and don't want a full meal and fancy cocktail!

Baths
around 4 medium sized baths, only indoors. Very average shower area before. The main atttraction the carbonated bath was small and filled with a group of 6 friends who sat there for an hour loudly talking away ignoring the quiet signs, and no staff anywhere to enforce the rules. A nice touch was the sign on the wall advising you how long to spend in each bath and the benefits of it.

Relaxation area

This is a tiny room with some uncomfortable looking sunlouger type chairs in a room that resembled someone's dining room. No TV, no magazines or books, no charge ports. Nothing that you expect from these type of facilities elsewhere. It was empty and eery. This is also where you can enter little rooms to pay for massages but the desk was unmanned by the time I went to check it out at 9pm

I decided to leave before my time was up and didn't even feel like washing my hair in the noisy bath area as the shower head was awkward and you had to keep pushing the button every 2seconds for more water so just put my wet hair up in a bun to get the hell outta there. I love going to super sento to sit in the lovely hot large shower rooms, really deep condition my hair then sit in the pamper room using nice hairdryers and lotions and feel great after but this was worse than my tiny apartments bathroom!

Checkout and Shuttle bus

I had to pay my bill at the end and it was higher than I was expecting, didn't realise the cola I got with my meal cost as much as the curry rice itself.

I was going to walk over the bridge back into town to get food but it started to rain, another guest told me If you put your name down on the list at the exit you can get collected when 10 people are there. I thought this was kind, but maybe they just wanted to hurry up the process too haha.
Took about 30minutes until a group of Japanese girls left at once and got the numbers up. The bus driver shouted at me in Japanese asking where I want to go, I said station but he then shouted at me so fast and mumbled I couldn't understand him. (I speak basic Japanese but couldn't grasp a word) He just kept shouting at me as I stood confused then eventually ushered me onto the bus. Not the level of customer service I am used to from Japan so very shocked.

If you are a visitor to Japan and want to try a relaxing sento spa please avoid this place! Go to any of the others in the area (best are rakuspa or skyspa)
This one seems a place for couples to swim together under the stars then have a romantic meal and cocktails.

Thank you so much for taking the time to write this very important and detailed review of the spa. As Enoshima Island Spa celebrates its 15th anniversary, comments and feedback like you have provided are wonderfully helpful. First of all, we must apologize about your feeling yelled at by our driver. We will fix that right away by providing a menu for you to point out which station you want to be dropped off at. This will solve the communication issue as luckily you spoke Japanese but a lot of the visitors are from overseas and would not be able to communicate at all. We will definitely have staff come into the bathing and pool areas more often to enforce the quiet and basic etiquette rules. We will also try to offer more food choices for those who prefer to eat poolside and not in the Island Grill. Also, your comments about spa attire, etc., were very helpful. This spa was opened as an exclusive members only spa and in no way wants to be like one of the super sento locations in Kanagawa. Staff service, ambience, food quality and the general experience should be high end spas around the world and we are so sad and sorry that this was not your experience. We will continue to work diligently to make sure every guest is treated like a VIP and they leave feeling refreshed, rejuvenated and ready to re-enter their busy lives. The staff is truly grateful for you visiting the spa and we hope to keep improving the experience daily.
