This place was a pleasant surprise. Lots of steps but the view is worth it. The Big Buddha can be reached without climbing but you need to go to the right parking lot. It is a great place to visit if you want a workout. You can spend the entire day here going up and down stairs visiting different sites - mountain top views, Big Buddha, Temples, observation deck and great views of Tokyo Bay. If you have active kids, this will wear them down.

When I came here, I saw a sign written in Japanese. "If you pray at Oku-no-in (inner sanctuary), you will be able to improve your ability of sports, health of your legs. Your kids will be able to run faster than before." So, I walked up to there, and I found something. There were two "Tengu" - a kind of Japanese God which has a long nose and red face. And such big clogs! I thought definitely they runs so fast. Though I don't have such large foot, anyway, I prayed to them. 九十九谷公園訪問がてら、鹿野山神野寺に立ち寄ってきました。奥の院の天狗たちの表情がユニークでよかったです。 彼らのように大足でも子供でもありませんが、早く走れるようになるかな?
