Nara Park is actually rather big with lots of deer roaming around waiting for tourists to feed them. It's the approach to get to the shrine inside. Although the deer might get impatient and head-butt you...

We traveled with kids ages 6 and 8, and the visit to Nara was one of the highlights of their trip to Japan. They had a lot of fun seeing (and feeding) the deer.

The big attraction here are the 1000 or so sacred deer. Children and adults acting like children chase deer down trying to get a selfie or feed them a cracker. The deer prove once again that ruminants are smarter than humans by pretty much ignoring...More
