Maybe it was in May so the fields look really sparse. Perhaps we have seen better ones in Vietnam Sapa. Not worth driving all the way there unless it is en route as for Rokkosaki Cape. We just stopped by for 15 minutes for a photo.

Along the Chirihama Nagisa Driveway want to stretch your legs at this place.
Sea wind blows through your hair, and the view is limited, but nice, even in autumn.
The kiosk of course is clean, just as the restrooms are.
I wonder what the mountainous spots on the horizon are.

The rice paddies are only lighted up every night from mid Oct to mid Mar. The 21000 solar LED lights are each placed by hand by local volunteers. It changed colour every 30 minutes. Please dress appropriate to keep oneself warm from the strong wind and cold. There is a shop at the parking lots where you can get souvenirs to bring home.

If you are passing through the area, stop and take a look at these terraced rice fields. Otherwise, if you have seen them in Indonesia or China or elsewhere, it is not worth the while to spend more than an hour from Wakura Onsen.

The view is breathtaking and the walks available on the terraces are wonderful. We visited on a blustery day, but enjoyed the windswept and lonely terraces. A few tour buses stopped, but were mainly filled with seniors who were disinclined to walk up and down the paths to the coast. Well worth a stop!

We visited here on a recent trip to the Noto Peninsula. The area is incredibly beautiful and the rice paddies on the terraces are both interesting and are (at least in my experience) unique. You can walk through the area easily. Because we did not have a car on our visit, we took a local bus to and from Wajima to the area. The bus ride is cheap and not very long but to get the return bus, we had to wait quite a long time. This was not ideal but I am glad we made the effort and saw Shiroyone Semmaida.

Our cycle group stopped her for a morning break. Good view, and for adjacent food outlets and facilities.

Semmaida - meaning 1000 pieces of rice field, actually has 1004, is located right beside the seashore, giving a spectacular view and tranquil environment. As its beside the seashore, can get very windy.

What an incredible place. It's amazing where rice can be grown!! We did have rain and there was little shelter but would encourage people to go there anyway.

We enjoyed visiting these terraces especially for the combination of the rice fields and the sea.
We have seen rice terraces in Vietnam and China. This one is not comparable to Sapa in Vietnam or the ones in Chaina, still it is a nice site.
