Nice aquarium
Sep 2019
It was a short visit since I was in a hurry. Despite that, I could enjoy this aquarium. At first, you will enter a blue room with a giant fish tank. There you can see their local whale sharks. It was nice. Don't forget to take a picture with the sharks. They also have other local fishes inside the giant tank. After that, you can choose whether to continue to the next building (consist of many small fish tanks, touch pool, projection mapping area, etc) or going to watch the dolphin show and penguin walk show. There is also a giant under water tunnel under the dolphin pool as if you watch the dolphin from under ocean. I don't whether their foods are good or not, but they have restaurant inside the aquarium and several vending machines also. Plus they have a goods shop before the exit which sell many variety of goods and limited goods.

Beautiful Island, Lovely Aquarium
May 2019 • Couples
My wife is an experienced scuba diver and so when we read about a good aquarium, we usually make the effort to visit. We were not disappointed in the least. The aquarium is set out on several levels, but the biggest attraction is the huge fish tank a visitor encounters upon entering the building. So many large sea creatures -- whale sharks, hammerheads, other sharks, large fish of many varieties. Luckily, we visited during late May, while the schools are in session, and during the week, when most people are working. As a result, we had large sections of the aquarium to ourselves and therefore could linger, take pictures, wonder at these amazing animals. Because there were so few visitors, we could enjoy the silence and the wildlife around us.

We were also able to see the playful sea otters and the dolphins and the penguins. There was a dolphin and seal show, and since we had wonderful seats, it was a great pleasure to watch the trainers playing with the animals. Pure fun!

Many ryokans will offer guests tickets that provide a good discount. We paid JPY3,300 for two adults (after the discount -- I think discount was JPY200 each).

Pleasant Aquarium
May 2019
We had half a day and was looking for a place nearby to visit. It was between this aquarium and a glass museum on the same bus route from our hotel so we opted for the aquarium to visit with some marine animals and such. You start off in what they call the Blue Room where the whale sharks swim and move out into the open pool for the dolphin and seal shows. There's an area where you can reserve a time to learn a little more in-depth about dolphins and their behaviors, and an area with penguins. Not much in terms of eating places so don't count on any hearty lunches but they did have good ice creams. If you have young children this will be a place to go.

Nice aquarium
Apr 2018 • Family
The aquarium is not that big and its a little bit out of the way so do bear that in mind if you're thinking of visiting. That said, there was enough to see and do to keep our kids entertained including a sea lion and dolphin show. The whale shark was incredible to see up close. Overall, it was well worth going in our opinion.

We had so much fun - two adults feeling like kids again! Really enjoyed all the shows and activities- it really came through a lot of thought and effort was used to design the shows and staff were so professional. Had a wonderful day in all.

Don't expect too much
Jan 2017 • Couples
There are lots of aquarium exhibitions, including freshwater species, jelly-fishes, sharks, rays, whale shark, seals, otter, dolphins. However, the transport to there is not convenient and the dolphin show is not good. You can go there if you stay around.

A beautiful aquarium
Aug 2016 • Friends
An aquarium that features a lot of local sea creatures in the region. Do expect some crowds as it is very popular. Take a little time to walk around the area for museums and food as well.

Quiet aquarium. Good for kids
Oct 2015 • Friends
Seaside aquarium, relatively quiet. You can watch penguins and seals up close. The whale shark is the star here. You can spend 2 hours here easily. It makes a good destination at the end of exploring the Noto peninsula and island if you travel with kids.

Not bad but not worth it to go all the way there to visit
Jun 2015
This aquarium has a huge tank containing a whale shark, a sunfish and other fishes. The other highlights include a dolphin show and penguin walk.

On the whole, the aquarium is not big with mainly descriptions of the fishes in Japanese. There are not many species of fishes available and thus you can easily finish the entire place within an hour.

Good Aquarium :D

This Aquarium was small in size but really nice. There is a nice view looking out onto the water on Notojima. Dolphin show and penguin walking was fun. Their main tank is BIG and has two whale sharks. If you are going around the Noto Peninsula I would recommend checking this place out.
