渡瀬川が草木ダムで堰き止められてできた人造湖。かなり大きいですね。湖畔には公園や散歩道も整備されているようです。
紅葉はそこそこでしたが上流方向に男体山が見えてきれいでした。

山沿いの道を走るとそこに見える草木湖です。
小さな展望台に登ると静かな湖が見えます。
周りの山と木木が季節を見せてくれます。
気持ちの良い空間です。
心霊スポットでもあり夜は怖い感じでしょうか？
景色に見とれてしまいました。

富弘美術館からも奇麗に眺められるダム湖にしては美しい環境だと思いますが、この「草木湖」っていう名前、何とかならないんでしょうかね？ 「みどり市」もそうですけど・・・。

紅葉をじっくり楽しみたい方は（新緑も）車窓からではなく、冨弘美術館から下りる遊歩道を下ってみてください。カエデの紅葉の綺麗なこと。水と紅葉のハーモニーが絶妙。写真好きの方にお薦めです。お薦めの理由は他の紅葉名所に比べ、人が少なくじっくり落ち着いた気分で滞在出来るからです。それでいて風景の美しさは１級ものです！こんなところがあったんだと、少し得した気分になるでしょう。

草木ダムと同じような書き込みとなりますが、ダムの中腹に国道の反対側に行ける橋があります。
この橋が赤くて紅葉と相まり綺麗です。
紅葉時期を少し過ぎてしまったようですが、紅葉のピークはさぞ素晴らしいポイントになると思います。

カヌーで湖上をお散歩しようと行きましたが、雨は続いていたのに、水位が低く
諦めました。
他の方の口コミにも「水位の変化が大きいように感じる」とあったので、大きく低位に傾いたときだったのかもしれません。
駐車場から少し離れているので、駐車場で組み立ててから、湖面までの移動が少し大変かもしれません。

車で、群馬の太田市や桐生市方面から、国道122号線（渡良瀬川に沿って）日光方面に北上すると、ドライブの休憩場所として、ちょうど良い場所にあります。湖畔にはドライブインがあり、食事もできます。ダムサイトからの景色もよく、川上には赤い橋が架かり、絵になります。ドライブで疲れた体と目を休めて、日光に向かうと良いでしょう。 桐生駅から出ている「わたらせ渓谷鐡道」に乗って、強戸（ゴウド）駅で降車すれば、国鉄時代の足尾線廃線跡を歩いて、草木湖に向かうのも良いでしょう。これは、紅葉の時期にお勧めです。

車やバイクで気持ちよく走る姿も多く見られましたが、神戸駅を起点に湖周辺を巡る散策路も充実していますので、晴れた日なら気持ちよいウォーキングができそう。富弘美術館を含めた一日ののんびりしたプランを作りたいとことです。
