I love this place, you might struggle if you haven't been here yet, there are different pools, so the further you hike in the better it gets. You can get permits at On The Go in Gordon's Bay.

Don't bother paying for a tour here, the trail is very clear, and as long as you can handle a medium difficulty hike, this will be easy for you! About an hour and a half in, you'll reach some beautiful pools with little waterfalls and...More

The perfect hiking trail. A workout, but not too difficult & the pools scattered throughout are beautiful.

The hiking trail is first and foremost a hiking trail. The pools are lovely but secondary - so make sure you’re prepared for the hike. The path is rocky and there are a number of areas where you’ll need to scramble. 45 mins to the...More

The first time I went to crystal pools was not a very busy hike. Over the years it became quite popular for obvious reasons and it then required bookings and fees to help with conservation. Make sure it is open and book well in advance...More

Crystal Pools is an amazing experience. It's a relatively easy hike in one of the most beautiful reserves in the Western Cape. The pools are stunning and the views are epic. It's a must if you can get a permit (email: mailto:steenbras.naturereserve@capetown.gov.za to get permits)....More

Went with a group of around 12 people; we did book in advance. There are several pools; each around 5-15 minutes apart from each other. We had lunch at the second last pool available. I can confirm one or two members of our group struggled...More

The first part of the hike up to the pools is relatively easy. It is a hike that requires a permit from the City of Cape Town. There are several small pools along the way, but the best pools are the last three you encounter....More

A lovely walk in a reserve (permits required). Although the distance is not far to the main (Crystal) pool, one needs to constantly watch one's footing with loose rocks and stones etc. If you enjoy swimming, these pools are big and the water was pleasant...More
