Overall I am satisfied with my visit even though the weather was not great during my time there. Ski slopes were well prepared covered by solid amount of snow, which is rare during this winter in Europe. However entire center was quite crowded resulting in long wait to be dispatched by cabin car from valley to the ski slopes. Ski buses were crowded as well and sometimes the bus didn't arrive at al.

More than a thousand of kilometers of slopes and hundreds lifts are available for one skipass. Wonderful sightseeings and comfortable bars and cafes in slopes areas. Just a bit tricky way (about 20 kilometers of mountain serpentine) to get to Pozza di Fassa.

The village itself is lovely, several bars and restaurants and beautiful as you might expect. Where we were massively disappointed was the main lift up the Mountain in the morning. From the moment we arrived at the lift to the moment we got out of the lift was in excess of one hour! On the return from the mountain back to the village was over an hour too, every day! This meant that we wasted in excess of two hours per day, every day, queueing! FANTASTIC !!! For that reason alone we will NEVER stay in this village again. Towards the end of the week we were skiing down into one of the other villages and paying a minibus to take us back to our village as the lifts were so rubbish!

If you want to ski and your level is intermediate or higher, this ski area is not the best thing for you - there are 2 long slopes, one black (called Vulcano) and the one red, which are in fact basically quite easy, more appropriate should have been red and blue. The other slopes are very short, and they have old chairlifts. You have also some good aspects here: the view is quite spectaculat (like in all Dolomotes), you can connect to Sellaronda (but only after 3 long cable lifts) and there is no queue (noone comes here :) ).
For sure I will not come back here again.

Val di Fassa is an excellent place for amazing treks in the Dolomites. What you need for a trip is a map with all the peaks and ski lifts. This map can be picked up in the hotel you stay.

Friedrich August Weg starting at Col Rodella is an easy and scenic walk. Along another route, Passo Principe (2600m) provides stunning views. The trail from Gardeccia to Vajolet towers is not that easy: it goes on the rocks. Wired poles help you advance at few places. On 1 September 2014 there was some snow above 2300 m in this area. This meant that around Re Alberto I refuge it was snowy and somewhat slippery. The only way down from the hut is the same trail.

In a clear and sunny weather do not miss Lago di Carezza (Karersee).

Gloves for the wired poles can come handy. It can become very windy above 2000 m.

Trails are very busy around 9.30-10.30 in the morning when most of the tourists start their hike. Try to be there earlier. The lifts start at 8.30.

Nice small village in the heart of the mountains! It has a very good skiing area but if you want more choice the bigger ski area is a 40 min busy bus journey away but well worth it!

If you are looking to do more that just the Sella Ronda then look no further as within 25 minutes you have a few ski resorts that are a little bit of the beaton track and worth consideration.

As I have got older I need to be less adventurous and these pistes are just wonderful. Wide and empty. It was such a privilege to have the entire slope to ourselves on a lot of occasions. it was exhilarating to be able to get round easily and quickly.

It got very sticky at the bottom as the week went by but it was possible to go down on the chair.
