We were able to get some decent maps and directions here. BUT, when my wife asked about good restaurants we were given some bad information. The place that was recommended was not good. Later we found out that most of the places there are for tourists and they don't seem to care about return business.

Tourist center by Shimoda station
Nov 2018
This is a small tourist information center by the rail and bus station. It is adequate if you know what you are looking for already but is not as helpful if you are not going to one of the main sites in Shimoda. I would not go here for help with area lodging reservations. Visited 16 November 2018.

Sufficient information and sold us the discount bus ticket

We went to the centre to ask about the sakura site. Besides giving us all the information, they also sold us the discounted bus ticket that was available during this period which saved us a lot. Honest and polite.

We wanted to know which restaurants to go for good seafood, and where the restaurant was located. They close at 5 p.m., and it was good we made it. The lady there showed us several restaurants on the map and we went to see most of them as one was booked for the night, one only had tatami-floor tables available, as their table/chairs were engaged, one was IZAKAYA, where they don't serve meals with rice, and so on. The one we ended up did not have tables and we sat at their counter.
