If you like beach and you also enjoy onsen. Come to this place. It is a small beach town which is deserted during winter. But it is really charming to enjoy. Had some fresh seafood here and the soft white sand beach is really quite...More

Not like a beach in Kamakura, you can find a very soft white sand beach here with lots of surfers, clean water, 7-11 and parking just located across the street, it's a nice beach to enjoy a sunny day.

Coming from a country of long white sandy beaches, this was nothing special. But for those who do not hail from such backgrounds, this is a very pretty white sandy beach. I didn't see any lifeguards (perhaps I missed them) so please watch your children...More

Unfortunately when we came in June it was really too cold to have a proper swim in the sea, but the family and the young kids enjoyed the sand and spent a good 1-2 hours there anyway to play. The water looked pretty clean as...More

A great beach for families. The water is fairly still with only tiny waves. Beautiful white sands. A lot of college age students also come here. Many of the hotels provide breakfast and dinner as part of the plan. So if you need to eat...More

I spent one night in big Hotel across the road. Amazing sand, clean beach, beautiful sea, surfing place, next to the busy road/ but noise is covered by sea sound. Enjoyed it very much

Good morning waves for surfing and bogey boarding. Was A little rocky and shallow though. We had trouble getting used to the regular megaphone announcements. No napping on the Japanese beaches....

Izu Peninsula (5 Replies)
Hi Everyone! I will be making a 3 day trip to Izu Peninsula this July and would like to ask for some advice! My current plan is like this: Day 1: Shimoda, Shirahama Beach, Cape Irozaki, Dogashima Day 2: Hike Kawazu Waterfalls Day 3: Explore Ito, Jogasaki Coast, and Izu Kogen, then head over to Hiroshima Would like to ask if it makes sense for me to get a three-day Tokai Bus Pass at 4,600yen? And also should I base my accomodations in Ito or move around to Shimoda/Dogashima, etc? ...More

Travel suggestions for a couple of days from Hiroshima? (5 Replies)
Hi, I'm travelling to Japan in two weeks time and I will be there for a duration of three weeks. It will be my first trip there and I will be travelling with a friend. We plan on flying to Tokyo and after a couple of days there, make our way to Kyoto, Koyasan and Hiroshima with our JR Passes. The only thing that remains to be decided is what we can best do for a gap of around 4 to 5 days prior to heading back to Tokyo. We considered spending a couple of days in the Japan Alps at...More

squeeze "Tokyo- back to Tokyo" travel OR "Tokyo - Nikko - Hiroshima - Kyoto" travel within 7 days. JR Pass should cover long-distance trips. City transportation is cheap compared to JR Pass price. Bus is available between Kyoto and Tokyo if you choose latter.

Tottori vs. Izu Peninsula (3 Replies)
Hi there! I will be travelling to Japan in July (about the 5th - 20th) with a group of 4 people. Now I am aware that the weather will be pretty hot and humid during that time of the year.. which is why I would like to include a trip to somewhere near the sea for about 2 nights. We are tossing up between Tottiri (for the sand dunes/beach) and the Izu Peninsula (Shimoda, Shirahama beach etc) at this stage and are not too sure which would be the better option. Both areas would fit into...More
