Great views

As expected when you go up a mountain, there are great views to be had. The carriages are not to big so you may have to wait a few minutes to get the next one. It's not so busy... read more

Our weather was perfect, so skies and ocean were blue. This ropeway gave us wonderful views of all this from way up high. We could even see the black ships coming and going and imagine Perry making his original arrival. There were also abundant beautiful flowers and birds singing all along the climb from the top of the ropeway to... More

The ropeway starts in front of the station and has intervals of about 15 mins. The view at the top is beautiful! There are some basic amenities and shops available at the top. There is a little and pleasant hike through the woods. We had a baby stroller and it was difficult to use it at the top, but the... More

The rope way does not go all the way to the top. The short hike is pleasant, the gardens lovely, the views spectacular. Not sure if it is wheelchair accessible, but there were lots of stairs and paths. There could be workarounds I didn't spot. Interesting Temple/Shrine at the top. Look for the vending machines. Restaurant, souvenir shop, restrooms. People... More

Nice view, pretty flowers and some good history and facts. The ropeway was pretty quick, there were some tours but we got in front of them so that was good.

Don't expect much from the ropeway ride - you are stuck there, perhaps standing among many people. It's just a means of getting to the top. But once there, the views are very nice. Worth the time and admission fee. And it's also conveniently located right next to Izukyu-Shimoda station

To view the Shimoda from a height, you could visit here by the ropeway. The fresh air, calm scene and little flowers are very relaxing. Spending an hour or two there is just a blink.

The ropeway to Mt Nesugata is located close to the Shimoda railway station. There are great views of the inland part of Shimoda on the way up. From the top and from the walking track up there the view opens up over the hill to the full Shimoda harbour. It is very pretty and very sheltered and has an island... More
