Interesting Park with many types of birds. The great part is that people can hang out and interact with the birds. Nice little show With the participation of the audience.

Everybody can enjoy the wonderful space with birds and flowers
Jan 2020
You may experience the time with adrable birds in the park by watching, feeding and so forth. The park itself is quite clean and you may be excited to see the birds flying around you.
"Birds Show", which I joined at the outside garden, is a lot of fun. Some birds will fly over you and behave according to the instructors' signs. What I enjoyed was penguins' walk. They were really adrable!
This park should be worth visiting.

Birds and Flowers
Aug 2019 • Friends
I really enjoyed spending time there, watching birds walk and fly right by me, feeding them and seeing the shoebill stork named Futaba right in front of me. Futaba was so big and charming although shoebill stork is not considered beautiful. I think the bird is full of character and cute in her own way. The flowers hung from ceiling in the dining area were all beautiful and well taken care of. I also enjoyed watching toucans eat fruits on my arm, which let me observe them right in front of me.

I highly recommend this place if you like birds.

It is a multi colored park in Shizuoka! Kachouen is the name given to parks that join birds and flowers and are a great sensation in Japan! Here you can interact with owls, penguins, parakeets, toucans, flamingos and many other incredible animals!

And if you also like taking pictures, you will not regret getting to know this place. It is a huge 10-hectare park and only 240 km from Tokyo. Incidentally, easily accessible by the Shinkansen (bullet train).

This bird park offers one of the largest glass houses in the category.

Consequently, you will have the opportunity to share the same space with the loose animals!

Decent place ..worth a visit

The place is full of birds ..and you can interact with most of them .
Photograph with penguin can be taken but for 10 visitors only .
Though i would have liked it to be much cleaner specially wherever they have a pool .
The food cafe is beautiful , full of over hanging flowers.
Good for a single visit.

Owl and parrot fun
Oct 2016 • Solo
I went to this flower and bird garden for a daytrip after I heqard that you can hold and take photos with penguins, so it was quite a shock that even if I arrived in time for the penguin photo (from 11am and 14pm) I was not able to buy the extra 500 yen cost ticket (entry ticket is 1080 yen for adults) because they were sold out. It was quite disappointing after I travelled there especially because of this. This is the most expensive attraction but you have to pay extra for every contact with the birds. I still bought the 5×100yen tickets and used them for bird food and also to hold, pet and take photos with an owl. It was really nice to be that close to the owl, I totally recoomend it once you are there (200yen). When feeding parrots get ready that they are not shy and they feel comfortable to sit on your head or anywhere else on your body but they are cute and fun and are not going to hurt you so stay calm take photos and enjoy being so close to the birds.
Most of the birds are flying and moving around freely in the rooms but the owls are on leash or caged.
The outside area is also fully opened with emus behind a little fence and ducks and pelikans swimming freely in the little river. You can also buy pelikan food and feed them.
As flowers, the water lily ponds are quite impressive, I have never seen so big and so many different waterlilies before.
Unlike most japanese place they have english website and most of the things inside are also written in English, although the staff doesn't speak english.
It's a really enjoyable place, made kids friendly but make sure to arrive in time for the penguin photo time before the tickets for that are sold out!
If you happen to be in Kakegawa I highly recommend this place!

Traveled to Kakegawa over a decade for business before I made it here. Was a fun and surprising place. Much bigger than it looked. Able to see birds close up. Owl show was nice! One of the highlights on the vacation trip with my niece. Highly recommend!

Much bigger than I thought it would be!
Jul 2016 • Couples
My wife and I stopped by here in July 2016. I wanted to go to Kakegawa for tea, and Kachouen sounded like the sort of place my wife would enjoy. I was impressed by the size of the place- it was much bigger than I anticipated. It's hard to get a sense of the size just from the map on the website. The indoor free-flying aviary area and the indoor garden area were pretty big. We paid the 500 yen for being able to get pictures while holding a penguin- which is something my wife hadn't done before despite having previously worked at an aquarium. We didn't get a chance to see everything since we were on a schedule.
They have a lot of owls. I don't think I've seen so many different owls in one place before. However, it seems like they should clean the owl enclosures more often, they were a bit grimy. I don't remember thinking that for any of the rest of the place though.

If you really like seeing everything when you go to a zoo, aquarium, museum, etc, then plan on spending at least a couple of hours here. If you have kids, maybe budget in a few more. Definitely worth checking out if you're into animals, birds, and flowers.
