Lovely
Oct 2019 • Solo
The tower is relatively small but beautifully presented, as the palace is included in the ticket price it is good value for money. On a clear day as it has been today, you can see right across Kakegawa to the wooded hills beyond - lovely.

Pleasant gardens if here for Yamaha
Jun 2019
Assuming that you are in town to go to the Yamaha Factory tour this makes for a pleasant walk up from the train station with nice gardens and an opportunity for a formal tea ceremony or a visit to the local museums.

The only attraction in Kakegawa
May 2019 • Business

This castle was built in 1487, diminished in 1869. The current castle was reconstructed from 1994. It’s a very small and lovely castle(10-20 mins are enough to visit). There are few antiques in this castle. They offer an app for Japanese and Chinese mandarin audio guide, but no English. It’s a pity that there is no English explanation in this castle(Hope there will be English version in future). The highest place in Kakegawa and you can have a wonderful view of this small lovely town. There is a amazing matcha ice cream store right next to castle’s entrance, highly recommend!

Should hv much easily readable signboard
Oct 2017 • Solo
Castle itself is not big and easily walk to top It takes only one minutes walk from the bottom of castle. Shogun Iinaotra had lived that castle. But at entrance signboard is just wetting his stay over there. It should show more how she stays, what area her spending n why there is bond. I recommend to the that’s place mango g people entrance n exit should hv much interesting information written board at there.

A hidden Gem on the Tokkaido Line
Jun 2017
Kakegawa Castle is one of the lesser know castles in Japan but packed with historical relevance and immaculately kept. A visit to the castle, lords manor house / 400 year old council building, tea ceremony room and Samurai armor shop is half a day well spent!

Japanese Castle in photogenic setting
Jun 2017 • Friends
Lovely castle in Kakegawa - complete with moat, secret floors, weaponry and views! The day we visited there were also a large number of Ninja's on patrol around the castle grounds which made for excellent photos and really good fun!

Beautiful Castle & Grounds
Jun 2017 • Friends
We enjoyed a lovely morning walk and visit to the Kakegawa Castle. The canal leading to the castle is lined with beautiful multi-colored lilies, which was a nice warmup to the visit. We were greeted by ninjas and samurais and had the opportunity to take photographs with them. We were then taken on a tour around the castle by a ninja and learned a lot about the architecture of the building and its history. On a clear day, you can see Mt. Fuji from the top level. We were also taken around the palace quarters, which were traditional and simplistically beautiful. All in all, a wonderful morning activity!
