The photo was taken on November 14th. The leaves changed color late this fall, so we went a little early. However, considering how crowded it was, it may have been a good thing. It takes about 40 minutes from Sanage Station by Oiden bus. The bus is small, so be careful that it may be full on autumn holidays and you may not be able to board. During the peak of the autumn leaves, the bus does not run to the mountain stream, so you have to walk about 10 minutes.

I went here on September during my solo trip.
The maple trees has green leaves of course.
But I enjoyed the walk along the river with beautiful scenery.
Korankei is such a beautiful place.
To go to Korankei is not an easy joy as there are no direct public transportation link there from Nagoya Station.
I rode subway/train to Josui Station. It took 1-hour ride.
Then another 1-hour bus ride from Josui Station to Korankei.
I took Toyota Oiden Bus Sanage-Asuke Line.

The maple trees has not change its colour while we were there by late October. But we enjoyed our walk leisurely along the river with beautiful scenery. We spend about half day there walking, having lunch in a traditional hut and had a very good cup of coffee in one of the coffee shop next to Sanshu Asuke Yashiki.

We have visited Korankei by late November this year. As we arrived here early in the morning, there was not as crowded as we had seen at this spot years ago. The autumn tree leaves have turned into yellow, orange and red colours and it was really relaxed while strolling along the gorge. The traffic arrangements this year appeared to be much improved as there were more open space converted into car parking spaces and large area for tourist coach parking than previous years and so even if you took public bus to this site, no traffic jam was found along the way. The whole Korankei Valley was in a joyful atmosphere around noon when all the pathways were filled with tourists, foreign or local, admiring the sceneries around. Some were busy in posing and taking pictures with momiji at the background, some watched the monkey show, some took their snacks in the shopstalls in the middle of the gorge while most of them walking along the beautiful paths alongside the river. Definitely this should be one of the "must see" tourist spot in autumn time. Highly recommend travelers to visit this spot while staying in Nagoya.

Went on 15th of november. A lot of trees were coloured, Some still green. Was a weekday and we went early in the morning (arrived around 10.20 am with line 8 from higashiokazaki) no ques or traffic. Actually it was really easy getting there only time consuming. Departed around 1 pm again with line 8. Also no problem. Were back in Nagoya around 1445pm. There are all kinds of food stalls there to enjoy some japanese food (and very funny Some frankfurter sausages). Loved this day!

The trees turn a million different colors in the fall and the effect is beautiful. There are some quaint restaurants along the river that afford a nice view of the valley and mountains. On weekends during the fall season, it can get very crowded.

I have never seen trees like this in my life! Autumn is the time to go, when the trees of korankei turn the most amazing red!! it is glorious!!! But it will be crowded, so be warned. If you don't like crowds, don't go, But in my mind the crowds and the traffic getting there was worth the beauty!

This place is less crowded by overseas tourists, most are Japanese or Expat living around here. Best time to visit is during the autumn season when the scenery can be overwhelming. Public transport is available from Toyota Shi station. Driving car is more comfortable for sure, but finding parking spot will be a competition.
This place is good for nature walk. Although it's a "mountain", the level of difficulties is beginner-friendly. So even first timer can enjoy refreshing walk here. Highly recommended!

Took nearly two hours for the bus from Josui to get near enough for us to walk all the way to Korankei. Very crowded in the afternoon and there will be a queue for the bus back to Toyota city, the line may be longer in the evening. The colors are pretty vibrant towards the end of November. Take time to walk around and enjoy the woods.

We were on a 1day tour from Yokoso Japan which took us to Korankei (highlight of the tour). We went on 23 Nov 2016 (Wed), and surprisingly the place was very crowded despite it being a week day. The colours of the tree were a riot of yellow, red, brown & green. Very very beautiful. We're very happy that we managed to book the tour online as it is very difficult to get to Korankei by train & bus. The tour's pick up point was at ESCA Mall in Nagoya at around 8.20 am. Before 7pm we were dropped off behind Nagoya Station and lunch was included in the tour. We were given more than 1.5 hour to walk around Korankei. We took lots of pictures.

Hi! What time did you exactly visited the place? Booked for the first week of November, hopefully I get to see this place as beautiful as what you posted.
Thanks!

Are there reasonable hotels/ryokan that I stay nearby?
Written April 29, 2015
When one visits Korankei in Autumn, is it recommended that he should spend a night nearby or a day trip is sufficient from Nagoya? Is there a ryokan that we can stay over?
