A few steps outside Tokoname train station is tourist information centre where maps are provided on the routes to take to visit the area. We took a shorter course of one hour but ended up spending over 2 hours wandering the place. On the day...More

Fascinating walking tour through the old pottery factory and kiln district. Lots of wonderful galleries and workshops to tempt you to buy a memento or three.

Tokoname now has English signs everywhere, so it is easy to travel the pottery path. It really is worth the visit. The short path is 1.5 km and can be walked in 1 hour, but that does not include stopping in the little shops. Tokoname...More

The town likes the hidden gem, the pottery shops are gorgeous and the path is beautiful. People can join the pottery class if they want. The building is old and traditional and it is very close to a Nagoya.

The place was once a famous ceramic centre and today we still see some of the pottery makers here. The entire place was very tranquil and we had a very relaxing walk there. Not only we saw the pottery there, we also spotted many ceramic...More

Tokoname used to be a thriving ceramic center. It had many teapot makers and was where makiki neko were made. There are still potters here but a lot less and in some ways is a ceramic theme park rather than where a lot of work...More

Had a great time in Tokoname exploring the pottery for which that region is famous. Would recommend shipping or carrying on any purchases made. One item in one checked in bag broke. Many others were fine with carry-on. Also highly recommend the little udon noodle...More
