These folks are seriously legit. Went in today because my newish boot started pinching the living bejesus out of my left ankle. I hadn't bought the boot there, and it was a brand they honestly scoffed at (Full Tilt), but the whipped it into amazing shape real fast.
Ian is an absolute champ. He also hooked up my partner who had a broken heel piece in the most astonishing way possible. I am now totally on board with the whole bootfitting concept and will never again by boots without going to a boot fitter.
The shop in general is also LEGIT. Taos is a hell of a mountain and it needs one hell of a ski shop to keep you doing laps up in the steep and these guys 100% fit that bill.
So, so, so worth it. Just go see the Bootdoctors.

My wife and I both got a hot wax here and our skis were ready the next day. I also got some minor adjustments on my boots (changed the ankle angle and heel insert). My wife got a custom insoles she loves. Her ski instructor noticed the difference in her skiing after getting the insoles. You can tell this place values service - we were impressed by their helpfulness without overselling anything.

Bootdoctors at Taos is the place to get fitted! I bought my first boots ever and they've made a huge difference. They are comfortable and warm.
I got fitted by Tyler. He was fantastic. I have very high arches, which meant I had to come back a few times to adjust the sole. Throughout the process, Tyler and the team were very helpful.
Cannot recommend this place enough!

We have bought skis/boots from Bootdoctors Taos over the years. These folks are the best ever - talk to Charlie, Wild Bill, Kara, or Trevor. They will help you to ski better!!!

This review is specifically in relation to the above market pricing of Lange ski boots at the store. The boot fitting service is excellent and the team takes a lot of time to find the right boot for you.
That said, I paid $700 for a pair of boots that every legitimate sports and outdoor store (e.g., REI) with a comprehensive service offering sells for $600 or less. I additionally paid $150 for their custom molded insoles. So even without the margin that a typical retail store makes on the ski boots, the store earned $250 ($100 additional retail markup on the boot + $150 for the insoles) for a service that takes 60 minutes. Based on what I've seen online, the wholesale margin on the boots even at $600 is north of $100. So all in all, it's fair to assume that the store made north $350 for selling me boots and insoles.
I don't mind paying extra for the fitting service but there is absolutely no pricing transparency and given that I paid for custom insoles, the store's argument that I'm paying for a service absolutely doesn't hold up. If you want to charge for the fitting service, charge a separate fitting fee and be transparent about it. And quite frankly, you are in the business of selling boots. That's why you are offering the service.
So if you want great boot fitting service absolutely check out this store but know that you will pay a significant premium to what you would pay anywhere else and won't get the boot at fair market value, which the store does not disclose in any way.

Bootdoctor is the place to get the best fitting ski boots. And Margie is the best fitter they have. She asks insightful questions, takes many measurements and really listens to your skier type and what you like to ski. The result was a perfect fitting pair of boots that really made my year. Went to Bootdoctors to get a new pair of boots and ski setup. Entire staff there is extremely knowledgeable and friendly! My boot fitter, Trevor, was very friendly and patient with being sure I was in the right boot for my type of foot. Moving to the ski guys, I was able to try 3 different demos over the course of 3 days and was able to identify the right ski for my ski style. Much of this credit is given to “wild” Bill who is a master when it comes to ski knowledge! He also went above and beyond by prioritizing me, the customer, and doing all he could to get my skis mounted as quick as possible. Would highly recommend!

The employees at Bootdoctors in Taos were awesome. If you are looking for new boots look for Trevor - he knew exactly how to fit me for boots and set me up with a great fit. Wild Bill behind the ski counter was unbelievable - they were so busy but he made time to get my bindings installed and got me on the slopes just before the lifts opened! Go see these guys!

I've been an avid New Mexico skier for 49 years and my boots were about 10 years old. I had been in the store about 10 years ago asking questions about my ill-fitting boot issues. I had spoken to Charlie at that time and when I decided to invest in a new pair of boots, I went back to them because of my unique fitting requirements. I went in later at night and Charlie was happy to fit me, and interestingly enough, he remembered me from all those years ago! I have to say, I had the best experience with him and all the staff, enough so, we bought 2 pairs of boots that night. We were able to ski in them for 2 days and I've never had a pair of new boots feel as though they were already broken in! Because of the excellent fitting, our skiing abilities were also fine-tuned! Amazing experience and I want to thank Charlie, Wild Bill, Rick, and the gang for the awesome experience!! We will be back, trust me!
