I spent a total of two full days in classes with Stuart and had an amazing experience. I booked one full day and then added another because of the progress and positive experience that I had. Would absolutely recommend Stuart!

My son is an expert, but with Taos being a bit more than average terrain i got him a lesson the first day. My son said the instructor was awesome. I saw the way they lined everyone up in the morning and it was well organized. He got a lot out of his lesson and said it was well worth the effort to have a lesson.

Stay away from Taos. Rude Ski patrol. They do not open the mountain on time. Stay away. They are dismissive, indignant and keep parts of the mountain closed so that they can ski it themselves. You could fly all the way across the country to only find out that most of the trails are closed and that the mountain is opening hours late and they will not refund your money.

This is the third year of that have taken my children and nieces and nephews to this ski school. In the past there has been controlled chaos but there seemed to being a functioning plan their. This year was a complete disaster I don't know what has changed but the school has taken a horrible downturn.
The employees seemed to have no idea what was going on at any time. They oversold and then lied to us about losing tickets. There was chaos downstairs because there is no signage directing people where to go. When we finally got our children in, it took up to an hour and a half to drop them off in their classroom. At the end of the day it was just as chaotic. Waiting up to an hour as we saw our child staring at us through the window into the room. Also no one in my party was asked their child security code on any of the days that we were there to pick up our child- such lax security is frightening. My nephew on the two days he was there paying for ski lessons never put on skis once. It was a massive waste of money. I have enjoyed the school in the past and my children have appreciated the lessons, but after this year I don't know if I will ever be returning. I don't know if this is a result of the new management in the Ski Valley, but if this is their way of trying to save a buck at the expense of the children, they will be losing many customers. And money. The childrenski ski school needs to get their act in order, needs to get organized and needs to serve the customer better.

The Taos Ski School is one of the main reasons we keep coming back to Taos (it's been about 15 years by now). These guys and gals really know how to teach you to ski everything at every level.

This year we visited the first week of January, when most of the snow was artificial (that's nobody's fault) so I was kinda depressed riding the lift towards the meeting point for the ski week. How wrong I was! I was in Christine's group and she managed to make the whole week incredibly fun and challenging. We did everything from skiing on one ski to skiing backwards and caring that tray with a cup full of snow (which made everybody else laugh on the mountain). Of course, there was a purpose to all the madness: adjusting your body position, being aware of the inside ski, etc. Christine is fantastic!!! I feel like a progressed a lot this week! I mention Christine as being awesome, but really, everybody I had in previous seasons was also great: Marvin, Kyle, Lizbeth (pretty sure I'm forgetting instructors...). I really love you guys!

Also, I asked Jean if I could join one his morning warmup runs and he graciously let me do it. Skiing with this legend was fantastic and humbling at the same time. Afterwards, Jean stopped by at lunch and gently gave me some pointers to work on, even though he had no obligation whatsoever to do so. This tells you much about the people of Taos.

Our two kids (8 and 3) were also taking full-day lessons in the kids center. Our oldest was mostly with Brian and Alma, and he was in love with both. They pushed him from approximately level 3 to skiing the whole mountain including some bumps (not many on this artificial snow...). Our youngest truly enjoyed the newly architected kids slope, which is curved to help them turn easier. None of them wanted to leave at the end of the day.

This ski school is excellent.

The pricing is moderate for this type of thing and they did wonders with my eight year old boy and his Mother.

Worth EVERY penny.

This ski experience was true to reviews! We enjoyed every bit of our ski experience. On arrival I was told snow had to be made because there was less snow fall than expected but it did not feel any different. I took a half day course as a refresher and we had our teenage family friend take a full day first experience class. She did not start off well and so quit mid morning, we spoke to Amelia the supervisor who listened. She spoke with the instructor, returned and gave us in a very kind way honest but direct feedback- we loved it!!! Too often these days people are afraid to be honest especially when it involves children. That helped us provide the necessary feedback to our teenager; in addition Amelia offered to find another instructor for our undeserving teenager. It was obvious how busy ski school was yesterday but she found Jenny who was a amazing. At the end of the day, we had a smiling teenager who enjoyed her first ski experience thanks to Amelia and Jenny who made that happen. We will definitely be back.
Also - you can rent ski outfits at cottams in Taos about 30 mins away. I say this because it was a question I had prior to my trip.

I began learning how to ski two years ago, and my husband and I were able to get away to Taos for the weekend. I took some ski classes hoping to improve my skills enough to be able to ski with my 6-year-old son. I cannot say enough about the Ernie Blake Ski School. They were, by far, the best instructors I have ever had. They were able to see what I was doing wrong and address it quickly. Special thanks to Lodo, Jonathan, and John Phillips.

The friendly and attentive staff made our kids’ trip great! Daughter ,(3.5 yr old) first time on skis, went to 2.5 days of ski school and loved it! It tired her out for sure but she loved it and showed progression in her short time there. By her last day she tried the big hill of the magic carpet area. Most importantly, they communicated with us when she was having a hard time one day and tired out the next. She adored her instructors and talked about all of her new friends a lot! Love helping her make these memories!

We spent New Years at Taos looking to play in the snow. We had never skied and decided to take lessons with the Taos ski school. We had two different instructors over two half day lessons and by the end my daughter and were skiing down the novice hill. My daughter has sensory issues and the instructors did wonderful including convincing her to ride the ski lift and skiing down the novice hill while he skied backwards. I have nothing to compare against, but I highly recommend this ski school.
