China above the clouds

We were taken into this natural reserve from Ludian where we were staying, a 2hr drive. I think in time the tourist centre will be quite smart, but at the moment there is an unfinished air about it. This did not detract from the scenery at the viewpoints which were quite the most spectacular that I have seen anywhere in the world. We were taken to one of he viewing points on horseback for 20 Yuan each, an inexpensive way to add to the enjoyment of he area. On the day we visited, the viewing points were above the clouds and the distant scenery, far below us, drifted in and out of view lending the place a quite mystical feel. There were a few other tourists but the site was far from being crowded though I suspect as tourism and access is developed in the area it may become crowded. It was (in both senses) the highpoint of our trip.
