Lovely museum filled with traditional art

It's really nice that the city is maintaining old buildings like this and finding good uses for them. The refurbished architecture is superb as are many of the murals; they really bring history back to life and give a hint of how splendid these buildings must have been originally. There are also some maps in Chinese to give an idea of the other sites around Hanzhong. Not all the signs have English, but many of the explanations do.

Good museum

The museum is nice and has good exhibitions. If you are interested in Chinese history then you should spend an hour here. Entrance is free. There are not so many things to see in Hanzhong, but it has a nice atmosphere.

Worh a visit

A quiet oasis in busy Hanzhong. It is better described as an ancient residence rather than a traditional museum. Entrance is free but you must present a passport. The gardens around the various buildings are a highlight. There is no café and no in-house English speaking guide. Given Hanzhong's determination to eventually become a major tourist attraction there needs to be a concerted effort to cater fro foreign Western visitors with western toilets and translations of all the Chinese descriptions on all the exhibits.

Great Gardens, Great History

The museum is free. It has enough English descriptions for you to understand and appreciate the artifacts and displays. It gives you a good history of the city. The gardens are peaceful even with the bustling of other patrons. They are gorgeous to appreciate and spend some reflective time in.
