Very entertaining

I went in the winter and there was a lot of stuff to enjoy. There are shows and static displays. Gift shops and the food is not expensive like you would expect.

Great Aquarium!

I really enjoyed my visit at Royal Ocean World. It is one of the best aquariums I have ever visited. The place is clean and the exhibits were nice. It took a couple hours to walk through all of the exhibits. I highly recommend!

Before you go.......

Fifty years ago, a new industry was born out of our curiosity & amazement of the adorable smiling creature that breathed air yet lived in the waters of our planet home. These amazing beings are from the Cetacean Nation. Scientists at Texas A&M University have discovered in their DNA studies of dolphins and humans that " every human chromosome had a corollary chromosome in the dolphin". Some scientists consider them "water people". Isn't it time we end captivity of the "water people", allowing them to be free to be who they are & not our amusement toys? Research the facts about captivity & you will want them to be free!

If it's Summer Vacation DON'T GO!!!!!!!!

I give this place a Very Good rating with a HUGE disclaimer.

We visited this place twice in the last year. The first visit was AMAZING. The place was nearly empty and we were able to enjoy ourselves and laze around all day riding the rides and enjoying clean water. If I only compared this place to that I would give it an excellent. So, if you want to go then GO but ONLY during the week when it's nowhere near ANY Chinese holidays or any POSSIBLE time when kids will be out of school.

The second visit to this place was more like those photos you see when people send out emails warning you to not go swimming in China because the water is so dirty you are literally swimming in other peoples excrement. If there was a fire code in China for how many people can be in a building at one time then I am CERTAIN they were at least triple over the amount that ought to have been in the place. The Wave pool was so crowded that all you could see where heads everywhere. All the side attractions and rides were the same and every single waterslide had a long wait. The food areas were absolutely disgusting with food all over the place and no tables being cleaned or dealth with. The worst was the shower room. In the mens room the amount of hair on the floor was nauseating and the showers were just gross. I felt dirtier after taking a shower. My wife reported that in the womens locker room there were boys as old as 10 and 11 walking around naked amongst all the naked women. My wife refused to swim that day and I was out the 150RMB for the tickets. No Refunds. Even now you must be wondering why the "Very Good" review. It's because the day we went first the place was immaculately clean, the food was great, tables were clean, the locker room was clean it was fantastic. We will likely go back but ONLY on a day as described above. No Holidays, No Summer, No weekends.

Hope this review helps you avoid our second experience and enjoy a nice "day away". If you live in China especially in Shenyang or Dalian area then this place can be a really nice escape as long as you heed my warning.

On a side note we bought the tickets for the ENTIRE place not just the waterpark. We enjoyed the Aquarium as did the kids and the dolphin show was fun. The facility is pretty decent not exactly top notch but not completely run down. All in all if you go on a day where it's not crowded you will enjoy yourself.

Went there for the school trip with the children (ages 2-5). The place is huge. The first display you see once you go through the gates are the penguins and the lone polar bear they have. The polar bear looks pitiful, with patches of its fur missing. The pen it was in didn't seem large enough for it to move about freely, though there was water deep enough for dipping. There were many penguins, and they looked fine to me.

The place is divided into different regions/categories (Amazon, Polar, etc). There was also a display of parrots and macaws, but to take a photo of it or with it means shelling out around 10-20RMB.

The different species of fish they had were impressive. Although, they could really work on the labels/signs for each aquarium or display. Obviously, they are in Chinese, but the few ones that had English on them only had the Scientific names.

The children were delighted when a guy in a scuba gear fed the fish in the large tank. Then came an underwater acrobatic show of 4 differently-colored 'mermaids'.

The final part of the trip was the dolphin show. There were 4 dolphins, plus one newbie dolphin. The show was short, but the kids enjoyed it. There was also a moment where the audience got to win a stuffed animal by catching the ball the dolphin would toss at us.

While we were there, we had to pass through an area still under construction. Although tarpaulin signs and banners blocked an otherwise unsightly area, the smell of adhesive and the mud in the area took away some points for me.

As for the price, I actually don't know how much it is since the school paid for us. The park actually has another area where a waterpark is located. The video showed a huge water slide, and we can see a very big Ferris Wheel from outside. I was told that this part is open during warmer months.

A must see if you are in Fushun

Animals are treated fairly well. It is a very big Ocean World and will be a nice experience especially if you are travelling with kids.
There are shows happening all day, mainly 3, one underwater dance, classic dolphins show and also an ethnic show.

An aquarium in Fushun, who woulda thunk!
It is a bit of a strange place to come upon in the middle of the barren industrial wasteland that is nowhere near either the ocean or anything polar. Royal Polar Ocean World is one of five attractions at this one extensive complex on the western edge of Fushun.

There is very little information in english at the site or on the internet, but you can make do. Remember "no flapping on the tanks".

The tour through the aquarium starts in a dark, humid, poorly ventilated area. For some reason ventilation is not something done in Fushun. You first see the polar bear. This is one very unhappy, stressed out animal is an enclosure that is way too small. Fortunately things get better. The rest of the tour takes you through a fairly extensive aquarium with decent sized and clean conditions for the animals. The variety of animals is quite good. There are some large walk through tanks and a dolphin show. Check timing for the show to make sure you catch it.
