A long park
Sep 2017 • Business
It is a really long park in the middle of the city that stretches from the government buildings to the river. There are big sculptures and huge buildings around it. The park is adorned with flowers, plants and trees. I actually jogged from the hotel to the river and back. Not bad at all.

Mongolian Cultural Area
Oct 2017 • Solo
This section is part of a nearly 2Km strip of parkland from North to South in the new Ordos administrative city. It is primarily dedicated to the Mongolian culture. The walls on both sides of this entrance gate has carvings related to Mongolian horsemen.

Overpriced site on a deserted city
Sep 2017 • Couples
Worth a look, though it is so overpriced. This park (that is not yet finshed) is another location in Ordos doomed to remain empty (or almost empty).
This park was built with the intention of shooting movies there (maybe in the future, who knows).

Well worth a look

The museum is a must - very good - highlight of the visit. Some nice civic sculpture and also gardens.
Needless to say plenty of parking and no queues!

A prefab city in waiting...
Apr 2017 • Solo
An interesting retreat from the bustling commotion and 'arjee-barjee' of Beijing, this new prefecture city of Ordos (formally Dongsheng) near the desert has to be seen. Only 1.5 hrs flight away from the capital, you can see new roads, steets, parks and blocks, which are virtually empty of people. In the Kangbashi tourist area, snap away at some great modern architecture, and marvel at the colossal imposing statues in Gengis Khan Square. I enjoyed seeing these statues- and the uniformity of the official state buildings overlooking the clear historical-political vision contained within this square. (There are so many motifs of strength, loyalty and order).
I arranged a day to see the desert, from XiangShaWan tourist 'AAAAA' theme park, (Chinese promotional subtlety, right there). You must take a vehicle, no public transport, and once I'd paid for only 1 'island' entrance, I could wander into the desert for a more authentic experience, for a few hours (my motivation for this, wasn't really comprehended by my fellow mini-bus visitors- who were all keen for the desert theme-park attractions). I really enjoyed this (and even got to ride a camel for a short time!). I thought a weekend was enough time here. Enjoy!

The Ghost city of Ordos
Apr 2017 • Couples
Great place to visit with beautiful architectures and statues. We were in awe of this place; it's huge with beautiful paved street and rarely any vehicles in this city. Beautiful building with no one residing in them; a rare sight in the prosperous China.
