UNESCO heritage site and fairly won its reputation as the miracle of the new and old world. Built along an east-to-west line across the historical northern borders of China to protect the Chinese states and empires against the raids and invasions of the various nomadic groups of the Eurasian Steppe with an eye to expansion. Several walls were being built as early as the 7th century BC. Later on they have joined together and made bigger and stronger, and now referred to as the Great Wall. Don’t miss the experience of actually walking on it. Most of the steps are uneven and this was a very good reason why the enemy troops got tired while fighting. The steps made out of stone and mud and in different sizes. An archaeological site worth visiting.

Gives you a totally different mindset of the great wall images seen in the Beijing visit. Its been constructed during the Ming Dynasty and its just mud walls now and you will shocked to see a mud great wall

We found parts of the Great Wall along a back road. The nice thing is there is no gimmicky tourist site around it! It is just there with a marker. Not much left to see, but it is down a quiet back road. Great to see it in its natural environment without a lot of fake reconstruction.

This part of the wall is not the best to visit. But of you are around and have some spare time, go ahead and have a look.
