I live locally in a city called Nanning and had some friends come to visit. My colleagues told me about the city being close to the sea with beaches and sounded like a decent idea for a day out. It was great ! It's undergoing some development so it has restaurants, hotels and other services. But it has avoided the worst excesses of mass Chinese tourism, meaning it is a pleasurable place to spend some time without hoards of people !
