- ImogensMum93 contributionsIncredible experience for our family - once in a lifetimeWhat an incredible experience! Riding horses along the beach and round the salt lakes at sunset was the perfect last hurrah for our long-awaited 2021 family holiday. The team at the stables (Gina especially) couldn’t have been better. Great info ahead of time, a really great set up with boots, trousers, hats, and even chaps if you wanted, plus bum bags to carry your phone in. We were 4 novice riders (I was last on a horse 10 years ago, husband 35 years ago and the kids have never ridden). The horses were great and they even put a leading rein on for my son who was incredibly nervous to ride on his own. He was accompanied by what looked like a real-life cowboy (much to my boy’s delight!) who whistled and smoked his pipe and coached my son throughout the ride, even getting him to trot. The smile on his face said it all. We all walked and trotted on the beach - although I wasn’t brave enough to join the group having a gallop. Wish I had been! The scenery was incredible and the horses totally dependable. We were even joined by two foals for the walk. Don’t hesitate to book an experience of a lifetime with Salt Lake Stables. You can’t take the money with you, but the memories will last a lifetime. The transfer in the Salt Lake Stables mini bus was seamless and well worth the extra money. I wish we could do this all over again because it was such an incredible experience.Visited August 2021Traveled with familyWritten August 9, 2021
- HeatherAmsterdam, The Netherlands6 contributionsTruly a dream!Salt Lake Stables is just the loveliest place. Run by Yannis, Gina and their sons, a true horsey family. They are welcoming, extremely knowledgable and safe while also providing a truly relaxed atmosphere, which is the perfect environment to be in for riding. The horses are all perfectly looked after and they match each rider carefully with the right horse. Everything, really everything, is provided. You can basically arrive in a bikini and they provide you with jodhpurs, socks, boots, chaps, bumbags (to carry phone, etc), lockers, helmets, etc. They are located right by the beach and the Salt Lake and the rides are a dream. You can canter and gallop along the beach and in the dunes (for experienced riders) but you can also just enjoy a leisurely walk on the beach (for beginners or anyone who has never ridden before). There are many rides to choose from and all well worth the price, which is very reasonable. I've ridden with them about 10 times in August/September (mostly sunset rides but also swimming trip) and would ride there everyday if i could. Everything about the experience and this family is so beautiful. I cannot recommend Salt Lake Stables enough and will be back next season without a doubt!Visited September 2020Written October 5, 2020
- Abigail SDudley, United Kingdom1 contributionIncredibleAbsolutely incredible! Highly recommend, were able to fit us in same day, very accommodating towards us, i myself is a capable rider and my dad who is a complete novice, who was also nervous. We had a great time, cantered along the beach. Incredible views.Visited October 2020Written November 5, 2020

Visited Salt Lake Stables today for an hours ride. Group consisted of myself, partner and our little girl, all with more or less no experience. Absolutely fantastic experience, we were picked up right on time and took to the centre. The lovely Canadian lady went through everything and shown us to the changing rooms where we got into trousers, hats and boots for the trip. Horses were being readied at the same time and we were on our way quickly with our guide. Went through the beach and sand dunes to the salt lake. When we got back, it was a quick change and offered drinks of which I decided on an ice cold beer. Dropped off again at the end. We were even advised not to transfer the money due to high charges for UK account so we were able to go via a cash point at the end of the day. Couldn't recommend this place enough, brilliant experience and really nice people and all for a bargain price too.

We booked the hours’ sunset ride as 3 adults, with varying levels of experience. We were picked up bang on time from our hotel and provided with all riding gear on arrival - jodhpurs, hat, boots, the lot. The horses were picked perfectly for each of us and the hour we spent on the beach and in the dunes was amazing. Mostly walking at a gentle pace but trotting and cantering for those that wanted something a little faster. The horses were in great condition, obviously very well looked after by the lovely family that run the stables. A great trip out, would wholeheartedly recommend.

My daughter (who can ride) booked us a one hour beach ride here and I was very nervous having hardly been on a horse before. The stables are amazing and the horses beautiful. We were taken out by Maria who was lovely. It was a wonderful way to see the salt lake and flamingos and I felt very safe with her. I even managed a few trots and my daughter had a canter in the dunes. Thoroughly recommend

My partner and I were walking down the “strip” in Tigaki when Aby pointed out a sign advertising horse riding on the beach!
We decided to look at their website and we booked that evening. We were asked if we had any previous experience horse ridding which I did not and if we would like to be collected from our hotel.
Within 30 minutes we had a response with a collection time. The vehicle was ready to collect us at the agreed time and we were driving to the stable where we were greeted by the two most gorgeous cats and the owner.
We were given ridding boots, jodhpurs, a helmet and a bag to put our bits in. A locker was provided too.
I was lucky enough to be saddled up first I have forgot my horses name but he/she was a gorgeous white horse, looked just like shadowfax! My partner also had a white horse.
We were shown the basic commands abs off we went, through the wilderness towards the lovely beach where we cantered on the sand with the waves rolling up to the horses feet.
We the. Headed across the beach and back though the wilderness the guide told us we could go faster if we liked, which some of us did.
When we made our way back to the stable the owner greets us with Ice cold drinks, which was greatly received.
Aby and I loved this excursion and I would recommend it to anyone.

As a regular traveler that is more into adventure and activities than laying in the sun I have to say, this rated right up there with some of my best experiences.
We were picked up from our hotel with our driver already waiting in Reception and greeting us with a smile. When we got to the stables we were again greeted in a friendly manner and were given all of the equipment required. We were also greeted by a lovely bunch of cats and dogs, many of them rescued as we were to later find out. I have to note that there is a comment posted below this one that relates to concerns of animal welfare???? This person may have a grudge as the entire family that run the business and the workers are clearly animal lovers and welfare of the animals was a priority here.
The ride was amazing. The horses are so well trained and i trotted and cantered(this is the first time i have ever ridden a horse) I felt i was safe at all times and in good hands. My girlfriend loved the experience too. The views were spectacular and I can’t praise our friendly guide, Maria enough.
We stopped and had breakfast and coffee which was included in our package which all came at a very reasonable price.
Not like me to visit the same place twice on any trip but we are both going back on Friday to go on a swimming ride and I’m looking forward to it.
Can’t recommend this place enough.

We were picked up from our hotel which was prompt and fine. Friendly lady. Upon arrival we were “greeted” by the lady who runs the place - she had no time for us. Was unorganised and we felt out of place. I had emailed prior to explain my young daughter would be riding but would need to be lead. They were arguing over what horse to put her on and weren’t prepared at all.
We also paid extra to bring along other family members as it was asked if they would like to come and watch… they were told they wouldn’t be able to walk with us and would have to meet us down the beach… no directions as to where on the beach so they missed the whole thing!
No time to get to know our horses or learn the basics. It was rushed and my daughter was left alone until I had to ask someone to lead her.
We were separated from those who were experienced and could canter off in another direction.
The horses walking were knocking into each other and some were jumpy and nipping at other horses with some riders becoming quite upset.
The sunset was beautiful. The experience was not as expected.
Far too many people in the group, rushed and getting greedy with making money rather than letting us enjoy what should be a great experience.
I’m sure there will be a response from the owner but this is a true reflection and I wouldn’t recommend for unexperienced riders.

Salt Lake Stables is in a lovely location right near the beach and the salt lake. We went on the sunset ride and as an experienced rider, I got to walk, trot and canter along the beach which was amazing! The views both before and during sunset were beautiful and it was great to experience on horseback. The staff made sure to take pictures and videos of each person/pair/group which was much appreciated- I got some breathtaking videos of myself on the handsome Carinio trotting and cantering along the beach at sunset. My boyfriend is a beginner but was asked if he would like to try some trotting on the lovely Ben nearer the end of the ride which he did but some other beginners chose not to so I think it was nice that they had the option if they wanted. The staff were lovely and we were offered complimentary drinks before and after the ride which were very refreshing! I would definitely recommend this experience, especially if you’re a keen rider but also for beginners. We paid 40€ each for the 1 hour sunset ride which is fairly good and I definitely would pay for it again!

Myself and my boyfriend attended here for a romantic sunrise ride, or as we thought. Within the first 10 minutes of riding the female instructor began to talk to my boyfriend. She then asked him to move to the front of the group away from me and proceeded to take him off to canter away from the group with one other participant. This left me alone with 1 other couple. They had been gone for 20 minutes without any warning to either myself or my boyfriend on what she was doing. She then attempted to do this a second time where my boyfriend refused to go unless I was going with them. She hesitantly agreed to let me join. After 2 minutes of riding ahead of the group she took me back to the other couple and tried to take mr boyfriend off again without me. Keeping in mind I am an experienced rider my boyfriend however is slightly more advanced than me. Overall we paid €170. We were both unimpressed as we had paid to ride together and we were split away from eachother several times. I would avoid riding here as a couple or group if you are at different levels of capability and/or want to ride together, especially for that price !!

What a fabulous place this is. Picked up on time taken to stables by lovely chatty young lady. Owner clear from start on process. All clothing provided. Each horse brought out & rider sent out to mount. Quick assessment in arena by guides & out for ride. Magical along the beach with sun setting. One guide took me for a canter separate to a group cantering as although am doing this in England it is in an arena in a horse I have ridden for 2 yrs. He was very caring making sure I didn't lose my balance - managed a small canter. All horses were lovely & all 3 guides were constantly checking riders were ok. Amazing experience & fabulous guides/ owner. Loved the cowboy - very cool

I love horse riding and had read about the opportunity to ride outside along the sea on Kos. I've been here 2x: 1x picked up at 5am to start in the dark and watch the sun rise around 6:30am while riding your horse along the beach. The 2nd time we made a nice ride along the lake and the sea, after which we went into the sea with the horses. Totally fantastic. Both these experiences are indescribable and fantastic memories. Also here a very friendly team, who will also pick you up at your hotel.

Do you still go along the beach and salt lake if you pick the 30 minutes ride ? It's our first time and not sure if an hour will be to much

I don't know, but I was 60 hadn't ridden for years and loved the 1 hour ride. You can just walk the horse if you wish, but I chose more. It was the highlight of my holiday, especially riding in the clear sea. Go for it
