I have visited this castle several times in my life. This is the second time I found it close.

Looking at previous reviews and today’s visit to the castle I don’t think it’s been open for a long time.... I suspect long overdue repairs are required to ensure visitor safety. That said Forza D’Agro is very picturesque and well worth visiting.
The castle was closed so we spent time walking around the ruins & talking at the railing, watching the people swim, fish & explore, a beautiful place! There was a local restuant where we had a quiet & beautiful lunch!

Given its historical significance, as the place of first Norman presence in Sicily, and thus the first parliament on Sicilian soil, this place is in a very poor condition, and some major investments are needed.
