Basho is famous. Also outside of Japan, but those people who are running the museum could not care less. Basho deserved better treatment. Almost nothing in a foreign language!

Unless you are a die hard Matsuo Basho fan, I think this museum can be skipped. The small amount of scrolls & writings were beautiful but limited. When we were there, it was showing some of his writings as well as his disciples.

Iga Ueno is famous for two things, really: Basho and the Iga-ryu ninja. Unfortunately, nobody seems to care much about Basho here, although he basically created haiku as we know it. If you read Japanese well, and love Basho, the place is nice enough. Lots...More
