ツアーで行きました。
最初は、山村の中にバスが入っていくので、いったいどんなところと思いましたが、建物を見ると、なかなか立派。中に入ると、まさに歌舞伎舞台と観客席。
説明する方がなかなかユーモアがあり面白い話やご当地自慢の話をしてくれました。その後、建物の構造などを建物内をめぐることができたり、途中で、奈落の舞台下に入って、舞台を回す仕組みを説明され、実際に１００年以上前の舞台を持ち上げる鉄棒をもって舞台が回りやすくするために持ち上げる体験ができたり、花道の下から花道上に出る体験、花道で見えを切って床を踏む体験など盛りだくさんで楽しかったです。最後に、２０年後に改修するときのヒノキの板に名前を書いて、１０００円で納めてきました。２０年後に利用されて建物の一部になり、さらに２０年間明治座の一部になり、合計、４０年間自分の名前が残ろと思うとこちらもよかったと思います。

明治27年から加子母の地にあり、歴史を感じます。舞台裏の奈落は地獄を指し、ジメジメした暗い場所とか。舞台が奈落から回せることに驚きました。

わかり易い説明で、歌舞伎小屋の仕組みがよく理解出来ました。
奈落の説明、花道で床を踏み音をたてたり、膜に描かれた人達の説明、貴重な体験が出来ました。
最後に20年後に改修される時の檜板(希望者1枚1,000円)に、住所・氏名を書いてきました。

「かしも明治座」は明治27年に中津市加子母の人々によって建てられた芝居小屋。テレビもラジオもない時代には、芝居を見るのが娯楽でありストレス解消になっていたんだろうと思う。芝居小屋＝歌舞伎興行のためといわれた。明治座の歴史、舞台装置の説明を楽しく聞き、回り舞台とその真下の奈落、小道具部屋や、花道を役者になったつもりで歩くなどの体験もできた。舞台の幕は、製紙工場などで働いた給金をためて建立の寄付をした村の娘たちの名前や屋号を染め抜いた「娘引幕」が重要民俗文化財に指定されている。屋根の葺き替えのため榑板募金（500円）を行っている。
