Simien Ethiopia Tours is a licensed tour operating company founded by Fentahun Abebe. Fenta was born in the Simien mountains and specialises in organising and personally guiding treks. Although the team specialise in mountain trekking, they also organise tours to all parts of Ethiopia, including Lalibela, Axum, Gondar, Bahir Dar, Tigray churches, Omo Valley, Danakil Depression and beyond.

As part of my trip to Ethiopia with my friend, we got to know a perfect guide called Fanta, we booked with him the simien Mountains trek of 3-days, 2 nights. Fanta was a perfect guide, took care of everything, explained and answered the wave of questions we asked without any problems, and gave a really good and sociable feeling throughout the trek, and even after the trek we went out to a pub to have some more good filings with some good local beers.
Highly recommend traveling with him and I promise that you will enjoy every minute !!

I arranged a tour to Simien with one of the tour operators in Gondar and Fenta was our guide for the trip. Fenta was very knowledgeable about the area and very interested to engage in conversations and happy to how us the best routes as well as the flora and fauna the Simien mountains have to offer. I got a bit sick during the trip and Fenta (and of course the cooks and scouts) made sure I was well taken care of!
A side note, I can recommend any backpacker that is not traveling around in an organized tour and that has bit of a time buffer to try to arrange your Simien trekking yourself, either via directly traveling to Debark NP office or contacting a guide like Fenta instead of going via the Gondar tour operators! The way it's described in most guide books and what most tour operators in Gondar will tell you is that it's impossible or making it seem that it's too much of an hassle. Of course it's not as easy and straight forward (time to travel independently to Debark, the negotiation battle at Debark NP office) but you save quite some money and most importantly the money you do spend goes directly to the people actually doing the work (guide, cooks, scouts etc.)!

we had Fenta for a guide for 2 days in early March2020. I t may have been his last tour before the pandemic closures. We found Fenta, friendly, helpful and knowledgable. He was a great spotter as well. We were so fortunate when he spotted the rare wolf. What a treat. My wife has mobility issues but he worked with her and the driver so that she could visit viewpoints and sketch the marvelous scenery (she's an artist) while we were walking. We would highly recommend Fenta.

Fenta was our allocated guide for our 3 night camping hike in the Simien Mountains. He was an excellent and knowledgeable guide and always willing to go the extra mile to ensure we got the most out of our trip. He was always cheerful, smiling and very happy to engage in conversation. His English was very good. He communicated well with our cooks and guard and together they made an excellent team. We would highly recommend Fenta as a guide.

We met Fenta as our guide in 12/2019 and had a great trip with him. The simien mountains are breathtaking. Fenta is an excellent guide and really friendly. I would definitley recommend him as a guide and would be happy to come back for another tour with him. It is probably the best to contact him directly +251 91 822 0776. He can arrange everything for you.

Thank you fanta for making the simian track to more beautiful then its allready is.
Fanta was super tolerant and sweet had a lot of info to share about humen life, nature that the mountain have to offer.
I highly recommend to do the track with him.
