The Bard would love this roast
Oct 2021 • Friends
My wife and I met two friends here for Sunday lunch. It was absolutely fantastic, by far the best roast we’ve had at a restaurant. Very reasonably priced and a nice 20 minute walk from Bicester Village. Absolutely recommended and I’ll make every effort to visit again next time I’m local.

First meal since lockdown

Spent a very pleasant afternoon in the garden of the above. Good beer, good food, good prices and excellent service. We all had basket meals which were varied and good. Good sized garden and everything in line with the current regulations. Special thanks to the waitresses who couldn’t have been better. Will definitely go back, weather permitting. Didn’t have to book either.

Came as a group of three, ordered the BLT with chips and it was so yummy and the price was so fair. Charlotte was especially welcoming and really friendly. Thank you for the excellent service.

Sunday Dinner
Nov 2019
Just visited to try their Sunday roast, highly recommend. Roast beef and all the trimmings, so good - fresh, well cooked, hot and big portion sizes. Tried the puddings, yummy! Great value, give it a try , you won’t be disappointed

Lunchtime
Oct 2019 • Couples
We haven’t been here for a while so decided to see what it’s like. Got here dead on 12 o’clock which is when it opens. Not all pubs/ restaurants are open for food on a Monday lunchtime but I checked online and made sure The Shakespeare was. Very friendly bar staff and chef and a comprehensive menu to choose from. Anything from bar snacks up to main meals. I had a ribeye steak and my partner had fish and chips. The steak was very tasty and so were the trimmings. My partner said her fish was good as well and the batter was crispy. Prices were good and will go back again. We chose to eat in the bar but there is also a separate restaurant area as well.

Good food...
Aug 2019
We, as a party of three, visited the Shakespeare Pub on Sunday 25th August just after lunch.

The weather was good and the pub had organised a BBQ. Cricket was also on the TV and that meant the pub was very busy both inside and within the garden area.

The pub is not that large but we did manage to get a table.

The food arrived promptly and tasted nice. Whilst roast dinners were served, other dishes were available from the menu.

The selection of real ales was not very extensive.

All in all, not a bad experience although noisy with the sport as there was not dedicated restaurant seating section.

Glad you enjoyed your visit although slightly spoilt by the noise we are a busy pub, but we do have a separate quiet dining room with no TVs and gentle background music. I hope you will pay us another visit Paul

Gone down hill!
Sep 2019 • Family
We have eaten here several time and it’s always been great.

However today it was dire! The food took over an hour to come out and when it did it was erratic and all over the place. The sides appeared before the main dishes and the veg was near raw. The gravy was watery and tasteless.
The spaghetti bolonaise was tiny we thought they had given us a child’s portion.
The two stars was for the Thai curry which was the only thing worth eating.
There is no way that was the same chief that usually does the cooking.such a shame but we won’t be back.

I am really sorry that you had such a bad experience, due to severe staff shortages through sickness, we only had skeleton staff available, and yes you are correct it was not the usual chef. In hindsight it may have been better not to serve food that day, I can only assure you that it will not happen again. Sincere apologies for spoiling your day.
