The zoo itself was really cool. Unlike other zoos, you can purchase food to feed the animals. The result is that the animals come to you instead of hiding out and you get to see most of them. I’m not convinced that the instructions on...More

The Zoo itself isn't in the best shape and could use some upgrades. But it was great to interact with the animals and feed them. This zoo is not for anyone with limited movement or handicapped. It goes uphill then back down. The extra fee...More

We took a local bus to the Mismaloya Beach from Puerto Vallarta. We intended to go to the Mismaloya Beach and stay there but it was too crowded. Literally right across the Mismaloya Beach was the sign for the Zoologico de Vallarta. We asked one...More

We visited the zoo while docked on a cruise. We had a chance to pet the baby animals. It was lots of fun. The animals seemed well cared for and the zoo was clean. We took a yellow taxi from the docks. The ride was...More

We visited the zoo right when they opened on a Friday, and had the place nearly to ourselves. The bus ride down was easy (10p each) and we took a cab that cost 50p (lol) the final ½ mile to the zoo (worth it to...More

This was our 4th trip to this zoo and it seemed to be forever improving itself. The highlight is of course the giraffe who really takes various from you. If you are expecting a zoo experience like one in the states you could be disappointed.

The zoo in Mismaloya has a number of animals not common to US zoos. For example, one enclosure held guinea pigs! Another had rabbits, and there were a number of Shetland ponies. These were surprising finds. Additionally a coati (not a zoo pet) followed us...More

Yes, the uber ride did make us question whether or not we were going to a zoo or going to the jungle to be abandoned at the end up a bumpy ride, but it is in a jungle. The zoo winds up and down a...More

I know that I am in the minority among all of these positive reviews. I have been traveling to PV for years now, and have visited the zoo 2 or 3 times with my three daughters when they were young. My girls found the zoo...More

Yes. He can stand behind the half wall and watch you and take pics. They won’t let him inside the area, but he won’t be more than 6 feet from you.
