Four of us, all experienced riders, went on a 3 hour ride with Chavez. What a wonderful experience. We ride through jungle, rivers and the town to the Predator movie set at elEden, where we had a nice break at the restaurant. The horses were all in good shape and well cared for. Chavez figures out we knew what we were doing pretty quickly so we had some nice trots & canters. Go in the morning as it gets really hot & dusty later in the day.

I wasn't a fan of Arnold or the Predator movie so seeing the "Predator movie set" wasn't at the top of my list. However, I didn't realize the movie was filmed at such a beautiful, wild, yet peaceful jungle setting. This is where we rode. The Mismaloya river is clean, clear, with surprising waterfalls over boulders with delightful swimming holes in the jungle/ Rain forest and then you get the amazing views of the mountains, trees, birds, & the little Mismaloya village. Would suggest calling and making arrangements with Victoria (who is wonderful) perhaps for earlier in the day when it's cooler and before the buses go bringing everyone up to the set for lunch. Although there's plenty of room up there, and when riding on the road, there is room for buses and horses, and everyone gets by just fine, and the horses are really used to the routine. Chava was our guide and took very good care of us. An off the beaten path adventure we really enjoyed. We love the locals here in Mismaloya, everyone is kind and welcoming and we loved this experience! Quite an adventure! Thank you Victoria & Chava! Nice way to start the new year! P.S. wear long pants if you can. You can take the Boca, Mismaloya bus south or a taxi out of P.V. to the Barcelo Hotel to get to there. Horseback touring: A much better way to enjoy the views (rather than the noisy, polluting, ATV option!)

Had a great 3 hour ride with Chava. Stable area is rustic though the horses appeared healthy- well nourished, no open sores, shiny coats, bright eyes. They stayed calm when we passed the barking dogs, kept the leisurely pace easily and actually tried to trot a few times on level ground. It's an hour ride along mostly twisty gravel roads, with some trail, up to the rest point. Our guide pointed out interesting features along the way as well as discussing the history of the area. We took a taxi there and did the bus on the way back. The only suggestion that would make this 5/5 would be more trail portions vs. road.

Called Miss Vicki @10AM and she booked us 12 horses for 2PM @ $35 each. Fine looking horses matched to riders skill. Three men were over 100kg and had appropriate sized steeds. Two pre teens had smalls. Tack was re-adjusted properly and in great condition. Stirrups were actually big enough for my fat feet which is rare. Leisurely 1 hour ride to el Eden Predator set, swim in pools under waterfall, then 1 hour back. Vicki and two vaqueros rode with us and could not have been more personable, helpful and efficient. While out for a drive south of our resort, we ran into a sign that said horse back riding.. pulled over and found Rancho Manolo. My bf had already read reviews on it but we didn't realize we had found it. Everything was great. We scheduled our ride for 10am the next day and got a great deal on a 3 hr intimate adventure, just us two and our guide Chava. truly worth doing while in PV. Wear Jeans and boots - my thighs were a little sore a couple of days later.
