Rey was very detailed in providing the instructions on what to do and not to do in regards to riding. He was explicit about allowing the horse to lead us, even if or when we became uncertain.
To be outdoors with nature, on a horse, with a guide that was so in tune with his craft and knowledge of the history, was remarkable.
After the ride, we walked over to Mismaloya Beach, and we were in for more of a surprise. All of the locals were so welcoming. Rey and his wife Empress were greeted like superstars, which is a testament of their relationship with them. The tour ended with a conversation no one expected, but each walked away with such a profound respect and understanding of each other's personal history.
