The museum featured an amazing exhibition called "The Ball" on 5 different galleries, with an emphasis on prom dresses - from their first days until modern design.
The exhibition is mind-boggling and you should definitely not miss it.
Ticket is apx. 9USD.

Beautiful contemporary architecture, helpful staff, not crowded. Exhibits change every few months, and the exhibits on display when we visited were a mixed bag.

Some were pretentious and ultra-woke (not my taste), but all were thought-provoking. The selections from the permanent collection about innovative materials were excellent. As the name of the museum implies, all the exhibited works have a practical angle to them, which I enjoyed.

There were excellent explanations throughout in both Hebrew and English.

Another plus: The museum adhered very strictly to Ministry of Health regulations re: Covid-19.

It was a pleasure to visit.

We went there with 3 kids. Not so exciting for children but at least there was a small room to do some crafts stuff.
The exhibition seemed to me more scientific than design. The staff in the museum were a little annoying. The architecture is very interesting.

The architecture alone ( by Ron Arad) is worth a visit. Winding red steel lints and concrete in a fantastic design provide a great space for small exhibitions.
Interactive digital design is what we saw, we had great fun manipulating images, portraits and pictures on screen.

The museum is certainly worth visiting because of its unusual and beautiful building. However, we were disappointed by the content of the museum which was much less spectacular than its surrounding structure.

The building itself is fascinating. We visited the Ronit Elkabetz exhibit, open until April 2018 - stunning and inspirational!

I visited the museum last Friday ( 14th of July 2017) and were very disappointed. I love design and I know that Israel counts a lot of designers in all fields ; architecture, fashion, home appliances etc...
Once we saw the temporary exhibition on sounds - which was just ok as several displays where actually silent as you could not touch them... - we looked for the main collection.
Guess what? There is no main collection, only the temporary exhibition!!!
So you have a design museum, a few minutes away from Tel Aviv, one of the few Bau Haus towns in the world, and you have only one room with a couple of displays. Not a word, a picture, an object about design !!!
It is not worth the visit.

You do not have to go into the museum, you can also enjoy the special structure outside and go to the lobby

The story of Gottex was so impressive. This Holocaust survivor,Lea Gottlieb, had been a manufacturer of raincoats in Germany prior to her capture. Subseqently when she arrived in Palestine, she knew this place would not support rain gear industry! What to do? Her new country had heat and the beach, thus the Gottex bathing suit industry was created. ( no so simple and the story is intriguing). Her dedication and artistic genius is demonstrated in this exquisite exhibit of design, fabric and style. I was absorbed by the display.....

Beautiful building by Ron Arad and nice displays of modern design items.
Don't count to spend more than 2 hrs inside. Small Coffee house is located on the premises and large indor shopping mall can be found across the street.
