The castle is really beautiful, the facade decorated with sgraffitos is stunning. In the inner part around the courtyard there are two floors of arcades and when you stand there, you feel like you're in a fairy tale. The castle is surrounded byl large park and french garden.

You can take a guided tour of the interiors which takes about 50 minutes. The entrance fee is 160,- CZK and takeing pictures without flash is allowed.

The attraction is included in Unesco's heritage list and the walls of this building are unique in their designs and intricate detail. The surrounding area of this chateau are also worth visiting.

Unusual Italian designed palace in Czech Republic in this tiny town which is quite charming in itself.
The palace has this beautiful exterior done in stucco call 'strafiti' which has a unique design in each tile.
The interior is nicely furnished and worth a tour or two to see the entire second floor and chapel. But it will take over 2 hours.

The castle itself is closed during winter months, including the information center. The gardens are still open and for free from certain hour until certain hour. I recommend to check everything in advance, if it's important for you to see this UNESCO heritage castle.
It seems that some public events are organized at the castle's buildings. Me and my friend ended up at astro-weekend spontaneously, since there was nothing else much to do during November.

This is the biggest renaissance chateau in the Czech Republic. It's beautifully renovated and has numerous sgraffito decorations on the walls. It has become an UNESCO site in 1999. Famous Czech composer Bedrich Smetana was born in one of the buildings in 1824.

The Chateau is beautiful with wonderful art work. The basement has many sculptures by Olbram Zoubek which are worth the trip by themselves. The adjacent old brew house was the birth place of Smetana(composer) and the Festival every year in his honor is a wonderful visit! Listening to classical music in an open air atrium is heavenly. We have been to Litomysl many times in the last ten years and still find new things to see and do.

My parents, husband and I visited the Litomysl Castle. Wonderful grounds and the interior is quite stunning. Beautiful furniture, paintings and even clothing in display. Guided tours only but worth it. Highly recommended.

Litomysl Castle is one of the major attractions of this pretty town. The entire guided tour takes about 50 minutes.

The castle is small but very much fun. There's also a cafe inside. Play the piano which is at the entrance (for free) & entertain others!
