Both the castle and the surrounds are worth seeing
Aug 2020
The castle is really beautiful, the facade decorated with sgraffitos is stunning. In the inner part around the courtyard there are two floors of arcades and when you stand there, you feel like you're in a fairy tale. The castle is surrounded byl large park and french garden.

You can take a guided tour of the interiors which takes about 50 minutes. The entrance fee is 160,- CZK and takeing pictures without flash is allowed.

Beautiful Renaissance Palace
Sep 2019
Unusual Italian designed palace in Czech Republic in this tiny town which is quite charming in itself.
The palace has this beautiful exterior done in stucco call 'strafiti' which has a unique design in each tile.
The interior is nicely furnished and worth a tour or two to see the entire second floor and chapel. But it will take over 2 hours.

Lovely architecture with the bonus of a theatre
Aug 2018 • Friends
The tour is a good length and a translation of the main points is provided for English people. Added value for me were the fascinating small theatre where the family would put on plays and also the costumes from various opera productions, as otherwise many of the rooms were similar. The castle as a whole is architecturally stunning with its wonderful facade and sgraffito. When we were there an added bonus was the fact that they were hosting a vintage car rally with lots of cars in the outer courtyard- and also had a collection of vintage prams which to me were just as fascinating.

Castle with a history
Jun 2018 • Couples
If you go to Litomyšl, you should not miss this great monument. A 50 mns long guided tour offers a nice summary of its long history though not too detailed. The equipment is mostly genuine and well taken care of. On the second floor, there is also a separate exhibition of pictures connected to the town which is worth visiting.

Christmas decorations exhibition in the cellar
Nov 2017 • Family
Wonderful UNESCO castle hosts during December in the cellar lovely exhibition of Christmas decoration together with stationary statues exhibition of famous sculptor Olbram Zoubek. There are nice Christmas tree full of decorations for sale. Children appreciate the workshop where’re they can create their own decorations, adults can drink mulled wine, included in the entrance fee. We had great time. Don’t miss the castle’s garden, good Children’s playground and nice coffee in a Cafe. There is a room in the former brewery where composer Bedrich Smetana was born. Go also to the square with great pictures of Vlacil in his house. Don’t miss castle hill and the monastery garden. Great visit.

Gorgeous exhibition in the cellar
Aug 2017 • Family
In the cellar of the castle there is a very interesting exhibition of Olbram Zoubek's statues. You can walk among the statues and drink Moravian wine (the cellar is very well equipped too). The place has a very impressive atmosphere.
