A wonderful place!

A rare visit from "up north" to Cranborne, to start a walking holiday, we had half a day to acclimatise (!) and chose to have a little amble to this brewery! It turned out to be an experience not to be missed and, be warned, consumed twice as much as we intended! Beer and banter excellent and loved the odd intrusion from the possessed radio and other pub clutter! Watch out for the banned word of the day, plus list of unpopular beverages!! Mecca!

Thanks for your generous comments - and I'm glad our Southern beer seems to have compared well against your Northern pints! Hopefully we'll see you again when you are next on your rambles!

A very enjoyable visit. Great beer served on the premises & also in takeaway cartons.

We were holidaying in the area and after checking the website we visited the Sixpenny brewery on a Wednesday as it said it was open from 12.00 noon to 6.00pm. We arrived just before 2pm to find it was closing. We explained to the man behind the bar who was very understanding and apologetic and served us with a pint of 6D Best and also 2 x two pint takeaway containers of Gold and IPA and a branded Sixpenny beer glass. The bar area is great with good music playing in the background. However the main reason we visited was for the beer. We had a couple of pints of 6D Best whilst enjoying an evening meal at The Fox & Goose in nearby Coombe Bissett. We said how much we liked it and the Landlord told us about the brewery. This brewery produces some excellent beers, I only wish we did not live so far away!

Turn up and order - Monday 5pm-6pm

Picked up a 4 pinter of Cranborne Chaser for £10 on a Monday between 5pm and 6pm - a very tasty drink indeed. Between us, it went down too nicely so should have bought 8 pints!

Delicious

Don't get to the Tap Room very often now, having moved to Dorch. a while back. But was back there on Saturday, enjoying the delights of the IPA. Of course I got some takeaways. There was an unopened two pint bottle left that I opened and consumed a short while ago (i.e. 5 days old). Still tasted delicious. You won't get a cleaner fresher pint than Sixpenny. Well done guys!!

Delivery driver....
Jan 2020
Excellent brewery and staff.... but whoever their delivery driver is needs to slow down.
He had to pull in, in castle street Cranborne, mounted the pavement, and nearly took the hedge out.

Dear Goody2shoe Thanks for your generous review of 5*s. Huge apologies however that our driver was so 'keen' on the roads. We'll have a sit down next week to work out how we can continue to deliver excellent beer at great speed without any risk to the public or other road users. Warning accepted. Incidentally as a certificated landscape gardener our drayman is well qualified to take out any hedges that do need removing, but we will endeavor not to damage any that are otherwise well situated and pretty. I hope that we can still enjoy your patronage after this minor mishap. Please accept our most humble apologies if we have caused any damage or upset to anyone in the vicinity of the incident. Should you feel compelled to do so please do pass on any additional comments or concerns to us at mail@sixpennybrewery.co.uk All the Best Lyall Brewery Manager Sixpenny Brewery

Only 3 miles from me and it is great to go there early on a summers evening with friends or family for the great pizza and atmosphere. Lots of locals come here and it is very friendly. Often there are bands on in the courtyard. This place is not open late.

Hi Tahita Thanks for reviewing us and helping others to pick us out! We do strive to be a family friendly place, even if we are a brewery and we are really pleased you had a great time when you were here last. Keep you eye on our Facebook Page where we will post updates on future music and food events throughout the year. Our opening hours reflect our sensitivity to the local village that already has two pubs - we are open until 8pm Mon-Saturday and until 4pm on Sundays which is perfect to enjoy a few drinks without affecting other local businesses. We look forward to seeing you again very soon! All the Best Lyall & Team Sixpenny Brewery

A jewel in the middle of nowhere
Sep 2019
Only just heard about this place and wish we had visited before . If you are a beer drinker it's second to none and for anyone else there is wine , spirits and coffee .
The bar area whilst small is very welcoming and when we were there a band were playing outside and most people were watching them so there was plenty of seats and tables available inside . They have food available intermittently , some nights not at all so best to check if you are thinking of eating there . We went on a Friday so pizza was available , it is cooked fresh in the bakery which is attached to the brewery and they deliver it to your table in a box . They were absolutely delicious but if you are after a culinary experience it's not the place for you . All the staff were very pleasant and you can try any of the available beers before you buy .
One word of warning do not mention the word Lager as klaxons and buzzers will sound very loudly !!!!!!!

Graham Thanks for taking the time to give us such a detailed and kind review. We are really pleased that you loved the beer and the ambience that our little Tap offers to weary travellers and locals alike. Beer is (of course) our biggest concern here but for anyone interested we are looking to expand our food offerings throughout the week over the coming months. We are passionate about working with local producers and what we can offer is carefully selected for quality and taste. Pizzas on Fridays, Fish and Chips every other Monday and local sausage rolls and award-winning pies throughout the week days and weekends. As a Tap (not a pub) it is important that we give people the opportunity to try before they buy and we are always astounded when people then state "They're all really good!" - as if we would brew anything that isn't! ;) Still; it's nice to get positive feedback! Remember to keep your eye on our Facebook page for updates on future music and foodie events and updates on our other offerings throughout the year. We hope to see you again soon now you now where to find us. All the Best Lyall & Team Sixpenny Brewery
