The place has great vibe. All the stores, eateries, boats, all good. Smell was bad. Pollution was disheartening.

Beautiful to look at but the stench of decaying fish was too much for us: Its incredibly strong and overpowering. Such a shame , we would have loved to have stayed. .

We did the sunrise tour to the white sand dunes using the tour through our Mui Ne Budget Hotel, and the fishing village was part of the tour.
It makes for some wonderful pictures and it is quite different to a few of the usual SE Asia viewpoints.
Would recommend including in a day tour if you can.

We visited during late afternoon when all the fishermen and fish sellers were sleeping!! The view from the top overlooking the bay was amazing and managed to take a whole load of super pictures. However, on walking down to the beach we were disappointed to find it was absolutely filthy and inundated with plastic and rubbish. Shame the locals don't think to clean up the area a bit.

We visited around 6.30pm and managed to experience nice sunset view follow by the night view of the harbor. It is truly wonderful experience when all boats were lighted and blinking at the same time after sunset.

Do they cook the seafood for you at all?

The fishermen themselves don't. However all the restaurants on the seafront cook the fresh fish and seafood. You'll notice that the restaurants on the waters edge have "bo ke" in the title. This I've been told by a local means "sea defence". There is a man made wall, in the sea and a lot of restaurants are gathered set slightly back from this. They have live food in tanks and typically cook them on open coals giving them a great flavour. At my time of visit I ordered a kilo of scallops cooked in their shell above the coals with a spoon of garlic butter in each. They were delicious and only cost$2.
Something to look out for. Sometimes the restaurants over order the fish and you might see fish etc close to the end of their lives. The restaurant will want to get rid of this first. So when you pick a nice fresh one, when you've sat down they might change for an old, dying one. If in doubt ask to watch the fish being cooked. Make out you want to take a photo or something.
I personally never had problems with this but have been told it happens.
