Always wanted to experience barge cruising and ours had all we could want on board, nothing was missing, it was very well thought out for what we might need, the beds were comfy as well. We were shown exactly what to do and had a guide with us for the first three locks then left to our own devices. The waterways were relatively quiet until we came to Hebden Bridge and turning the barge around was certainly an experience, We stopped off at certain places and it was all well managed, the only point I’d say is we saw no water refuelling until we hit Hebden Bridge from Sowerby Bridge, but we luckily didn’t run out The guys who run this were all friendly and knowledgeable and we would highly recommend

This is an absolutely outstanding narrow-boat hire company. Shire Cruisers have been delivering their excellent service for many years, and it shows! Their customer service, months ahead of a holiday, is first class preparing the hirer in every way. Support, especially for inexperienced boaters, is the best I have ever seen. Hand over of your boat is thorough, friendly and very safe. Engineering and the way the boat is configured and maintained is exemplary. For example, in two weeks cruising across Yorkshire, I added no oil and no water to an engine which ran sweetly and reliably throughout. Internal lighting, electrics and storage are very well thought out. Beds are longer than the norm, and comfortable. Kitchen facilities and provided equipment all one could ask. My family and I are experienced boaters and have hired from a great many companies over the years - Shire Cruisers are the best, simply without equal. If you are planning yet another trip, or just about to try your toe in canal water for the first time, you will be very well served by Shire Cruisers. We will be back!

Excellent week on the Worcester, a 56ft narrow boat, helped by the lovely September weather. We went from Sowerby Bridge to Stanley Ferries and back. Great week the boat was excellent and all the staff at Shire Cruisers were superb. Thank you all.

Beautiful, well equipped boat, great instruction from Sam, we were a family of beginners, 3 young adult children (18 to 21) somewhat sceptical of a weekend on a narrow boat - all absolutely loved it, definitely felt we'd hit the jackpot with shire cruisers, they tell you what to do and then meet up with you at the first set of locks to take you through it in practice. Couldn't recommend them enough! Really fun long weekend!! Managed out and back Barnoldswick to Skipton plus a quick run through the long tunnel at Foulridge. Friday to Monday felt like a real break away from everything. If you are wondering, go for it...

Excellent week on Somerset from Shire Cruisers out of Barnoldswick. Really good quality boat all round with exceptional bathrooms (proper toilets and a shower that you can get into without being a contortionist!). Lovely welcome and briefing from Sam. Really picturesque week-long cruise via Gargrave and Skipton, turning at the top of the Bingley Five-Rise. We've hired a few narrowboats! But this was the best. Highly recommended.
