We happened to be visiting friends near Brussels in April, and they told us we had to visit Hallerbos. We went on a Sunday afternoon in late April and spent a couple hours wandering the trails and taking (beautiful!) photos. There were a fair number of other people there, but it didn't feel too crowded. We had a rental car, so getting there was pretty straightforward and there was parking nearby. Overall definitely a place worth visiting if you're there when the bluebells are in bloom!

Lovely day out from Brussels. Take the train from Gare du Midi to Halle, then a local bus. On popular days in April and May they run a free shuttle bus from the station to the bluebells.

Every spring the Belgian Hallerbos blue forest turns into a natural wonderland. Without fail, millions of blooming bluebells work together to form a violet blue carpet on the forest floor.

It is not possible to reach this place by bus
DELINJ runs the bud from Lambeek and Halle .. this is what they say ... I waited for bus for two hours but thanks to their horrible service no bus came
Attached is the photo of time table which they use to fool the people and do not abide by it!!! This place is not easy to reach by foot.

We were just lucky enough to be there during the bloom. It was a great experience. The light shines through the trees and unto the purple floors. It was a little crowded when we were there, but there's plenty of walk-ways and areas to get away. Its a great afternoon stroll

We had the great chance to witness the blooming wild bluebells in Hallerbos. We were there close to end of April, and the flowers blooms for a week or so.

Simply serene, beautiful forests with these bluebells everywhere. Birds chirping so clearly and ringing melody to the ears.

This area is not a tourist common attraction, and it makes it more special to be able to witness this beautiful nature flourishing.

The bluebells were blooming in mid April hen we were there, but not in the incredible numbers you see in some photographs, and that could of just been timing but I think more likely its the photos being taken at the absolute perfect time and lighting to make it seem more incredible than it really could ever be. Do not get me wrong it was very pretty but not worth a trip if this is the only reason you are coming tot he area.

Our first trip to Brussels and we were there for 2 days only. We knew from the website that we would be visiting at the tail tail end of the bluebell season, and wondered if it would be worth it to go. We went the afternoon of April 26 (Friday) and are very glad we made the trip. We arrived around 2:30pm via rental car. Parked on the road just before Parking area #8. Very easy to find parking and was not particularly crowded. We spent approx. 90 minutes walking along the yellow trail. It was a beautiful walk and feels miles and miles away from Brussels (it was just a 30 minute drive). Attached are photos. A really nice way to spend part of an afternoon.

Dear All, It's hidden gem near Brussels. It's beautiful forest.

You can reach by taking free shuttle from Hal/ Halle train station. The pickup point is just outside Hal station. You can reach Hal/ Halle from brussels noord/ midi by train. It takes approximately 20 minutes.

The forest is walking tour with roads/ walking paths. You will be able to take your young kids in stroller but obviously you can go everywhere as its difficult to Carry stroller.

There is good arrangement for toilets at many places. I did not see any arrangement for drinking water or food so please carry it with yourselves.

The entry to forest is free and there are no shops so you dont need to carry much cash.

The visit to Hallerbos was simply perfect - the bluebells are stunning and the whole organisation couldn't have been better. There's a free shuttle bus running from Halle station (at least on weekends), assistants provide free maps at the entrance to the forest and the special bluebell routes are cleverly chosen and well indicated. Even though it was the Easter weekend and it was quite busy, there was still plenty of room to enjoy the flowers and explore the forest without bumping into people all the time. I'd recommend to come here either very early in the morning or in the afternoon when twilight sets in - the light truly transforms the place and makes it even more magical.
